The chinese wanted Hmong to be illiterate so that the history of our people will be lost forever and along with it vengeance. Besides embedding the alphabet into different styles of clothing, our ancestors have uniquely encoded unforgettable segments of our history into our instruments word4word; especially the qeej. This is the beauty of a culture meant to survive.

this ancient song is basically about how the Hmong scripts were destroyed by the ancient Huaxia people. It's also about how the Huaxia were successful at mastering, adopting and absorbing Hmong scripts and other Hmong customs. Destroy the Hmong scripts, then destroy the Hmong identity and culture... basically, this what the song is about. Due to Huaxia oppression and expansion, the ancient scripts were embedded onto Hmong clothes by the women and continue to be passed down for many centuries

my mom has always told me about the story of our written language being hidden away from the Han Chinese in the designs of the Hmoob clothing, especially the dress.
