Grant from Homeland Security ...thats all you need to know , all you veterans working for the police just look and think what the problems really are, there are new laws legislated daily local ,state and Federal ,the people didnt vote on these laws yet they face jail or fines on all new law charges search, seizures,Jail ,fines, .you name it ,just a felony on someones background check can ruin lives ,thats just a tip of the iceberg
It is not ileagle to be trained as a military personnel and it is not ileagle to own a armoires vehicle, police departments are being militarized with these amazing equipment for the problems to come ahead, you can't have a fucking 15 ton armoires car ship to you over night via FedEx, you can't even get a M4 FedEx to you over night, I totally agree for the police department to upgrade, maybe they can be the next city to have a collage boy shifting everyone.
That's nothing. The police department where I live has an Armored Personnel Carrier with a .50 cal belt fed machine gun. 70% of the men and women in that police department are former AND CURRENT military. Police = military.
Police Chief: "We don't look at this as a killing machine. It's going to keep the peace. We hope the fact that we have this is going to save lives. When something like this rolls up, it's time to give up."
This is a clear sign that Sarah Palin will be our next President. President Palin will have the police force privatized and this trend is a clear sign that we are headed that direction!
Wow, amazing, with a very simple comparison with Europe you oppened my eyes. I never realized the "balance the budget cuts" in the US are essentially austerity. However, it's not all that comparable when you look at the US's defense budget, the elephant (or donkey hybrid...) in the room.
This war ready mindset has crept into every facet of American life.
Even Youtube viewers seem charged with enough self-righteousness and vitriol to choke out anything approaching diplomacy. They seem to expect this same kind of paranoia from their elected officials as well, and many politicians are delivering at the expense of meaningful and honest debate. Intellectualism is lost on these people.
It's also a direct violation of Posse Comitatus Act United States federal law (18 U.S.C. 1385.) Also, the 4th Amendment is on the ropes with spineless Judges, Habeas corpus still in suspension, no knock warrant murder of innocent civilians. No paranoia it's all right on our news daily. Also combat vets directly to police force is insanity for our Republic. They're not concerned with serving the public or civil rights over use of force as option one. We need to change U.S. Police SOP ASAP.
So combat vets make poor officers? Well, then, I should be removed ASAP by you. Except that you dont have the experience, knowledge, training to make that happen. Poor you.
I guess I'l go put my MY in my patrol car and go to work.
@101327 Militarization of the police is illegal via US Code. You know, the law..., the thing you've sworn to protect and uphold? Anyway, your threatening tone based on me just having an opinion pretty much makes my point, so thanks.
Giving the police military equipment isn't about making the police a bigger power that can subdue any form of civilian uprising. It's about finding a way to justify the endless amount of taxpayer money spent on military equipment that the military can't even use.
well, they let the tsa get all the nice jobs like groping people in airports, only fair they give the beat cops military grade armoured vehicles & training to stomp you with.
We need battle vehicles to the extent that our society is unfair - so I guess we need them.
A justice which is not largely recognized as such will have to be imposed by force, or at least the theat of force. Things like battle vehicles (and who, btw, is this battle against? us?) are great for chilling out dissent. Just people knowing you have it makes them less excited about protesting, and certainly less likely to leave the specified, fenced-in free speech zone they've been assigned.
Interesting tendency. But I don't understand the logic with Europe. You are suspicious about the tendency in US but think that police over in Europe needs these stuff. Que? You were showing pictures form Greece. The police supported the fascists in the 1970s, killing over a dozens of studens in 1973 for example...
I think we've been investing in the wrong kind of "justice" for a long time. This is just a logical next step.
Besides when the banks finally drain the last of the economy and the riots start you'll have the honor of being tear gassed from this beauty, knowing you paid for it yourself.
These videos are so well made, you should focus on getting more subscribers and viewers and it would have an impact on te cirtculation of your newspaper
It is fear, profitable, profitable fear. Somebody is getting a huge kickback from a military contractor. I would not be surprised if some mid level beaurocrat who was responsible for purchasing all of a sudden got a sweeeeet job at the manufacturer of this behemouth sooner rather than later.
Either that or they are getting ready for some serious riots.
Probably both, after sending the government broke buying army vehicles for the police force.

The United States is starting to look more and more like the northern states of Mexico!
That would be cool if you had their food, their culture and their tequila.. Unfortunately you dont have any of those, just the military-looking cops.

The "serve and protect" mentality is dead,
now it's a military war zone "us vs. them" mentality.
Fucking sickening.
