Unemployment was never intended to be used as a redistribution of wealth program and it certainly won't let people keep their homes. Life is a risk. #2 All these risks you've claimed have been greatly exaggerated and are nothing that the industry hasn't handled before. In fact, one of the reasons why we have these risks is because the environment nuts (they do exist!) prevent the industry from modernizing existing aged pipelines and refineries, which increases the chances of an accident happening.

It stated that building a pipeline of this enormous size and scope was a gargantuan project, and bringing it anywhere close to populated areas, and water resources, especially drinking water was an almost impossible task!!!! It will cost billions in environmental damage.

Not nearly enough info has been gathered to even start the project!! Obama should veto any bill that has the Keystone provision tacked to it!!!! I think America needs easier and more reliable access to oil too, but this is the wrong way to go about it!!!!!

@pimpinspartan Ron Paul may not be the worst person running in the GOP primary. He still is for free trade with Iran, lowering taxes4 wealthy(with no scale around to reward hiring in USA), wanting states to play money games with pot as done with alcohol, and defaulting on the debt. Obama is doing everything in his power to keep the one nation for liberty and justice for all, not just corporations internally. Externally he is working with NATO unlike the previous president. The cost of the drill is a fixed expense to a company that is allocated over a period of time (depreciation). To determine their taxable income as a business they need to deduct all your expenses for that year from their total revenue (That years allocated amt of depreciation is one of those expenses).

As for "subsidies", they're completely different. That is when the gov't actually pays a person/or business outright for a particular activity. Unemployment was never intended to be used as a redistribution of wealth program and it certainly won't let people keep their homes. It will only delay the inevitable at added expense to the taxpayer. We need to focus on getting people working rather than subsidizing unemployment.

Life is a risk. #2 All these risks you've claimed have been greatly exaggerated and are nothing that the industry hasn't handled before. In fact, one of the reasons why we have these risks is because the environment nuts (they do exist!) prevent the industry from modernizing existing aged pipelines and refineries, which increases the chances of an accident happening.

It stated that building a pipeline of this enormous size and scope was a gargantuan project, and bringing it anywhere close to populated areas, and water resources, especially drinking water was an almost impossible task!!!! Determining how to compensate land owners for what will be a very intrusive pipeline. Where to put monitoring stations, and how. All of these things will be tied to environmental concerns, because this pipe will have huge impact upon wildlife, and open water sources, fisheries!! Terrorist prevention!! It will cost billions in environmental damage.

@LavaIslandKing There was (I think) 12 years of continuous study, before the Alaskan pipeline was built. With the Keystone pipeline, I read there has been maybe 3 years of sporatic study into it. Not nearly enough info has been gathered to even start the project!! Obama should veto any bill that has the Keystone provision tacked to it!!!! I think America needs easier and more reliable access to oil too, but this is the wrong way to go about it!!!!!

There should be across the board INCOME tax cuts and deep spending cuts. The payroll tax is needed to fund Social Security - especially when the democrats have been stealing from that program for ages!

@ignitoman The towns are not buying the drill. That is nothing more than leftist propaganda. The cost of the drill is a fixed expense to a company that is allocated over a period of time (depreciation). To determine their taxable income as a business they need to deduct all your expenses for that year from their total revenue (That years allocated amt of depreciation is one of those expenses).

As for "subsidies", they're completely different. That is when the gov't actually pays a person/or business outright for a particular activity. For example, when the govt pays farmers to grow corn or energy firms to drill for natl gas in order to increase the supply. This is what needs to be eliminated. Depreciation, on the other hand, IS NOT A SUBSIDY!

He set up the super committee knowing it would fail so he could run against Congress. If jobs were so important to him, he would have done something about it in his first 2 years when he had majorities in both houses of Congress. He has never ran a business, doesn't know how jobs are created, and thinks government spending is the answer.
