Thanks for response. I have contacted Seymour Duncan and advised the best pick up replacement for this bass is their SCR-1N (N = neck pick up) "Cool Rails". I have priced a new Fender Mustang Bass and the priced jumped from $639 for a 2008 model to $839 for the new 2009 model. Yikes. So I have been looking at the Squier Bronco Bass and old pictures of the Squier Vista series Musicmaster Bass to see how I could improve the Broco Bass sound. The difference seems to be the p/u, bridge, tuners.
It looks like your Squire Bronco Bass has the Fender Mustand Bass style tuners. Did you install the tuners or did the Squire Bronco Bass come that way back when you bought it. I am thinking of buying a new 2009 Squire Bronco Bass and then replace the stock pick up with a bass pick up that will fit best. I have been told the Squire Bronco Bass has a guitar style pick up and that is why it does not produce a good bass sound like the Fender Mustang Bass (of course the Mustang Bass costs $840).
And I change colour of plastic - from white to black.
AND made lower saddle (fret No. 0).
Saddle beetwen head and first place (F, Bb, Eb, Ab) must be very low - Indonesian Squiers have too high and this is the big mistake. Overall body and neck are Mustang, good production.
Maybe bass need better singlecoil - or fix it directli in wood.
ABOUT guitar singlecoil : original USA 60s/70s model Fender Musicmaster Bass (Bronco is copy of this bass, because it has the same bridge and singlecoil) have the same guitar singlecoil - I had Musicmaster and when I open the pick up, I saw 6 little pick ups = Stratocaster singlecoil with plastic mask. Anyway, sound of singlecoil is great, I tested a lot long scales 34'' basses with guitars Stratocaster singlecoils and they are all great ;)
where did you get the black pickguard? or did u have it custom cut?
