Epic soundtrack. It fits the movie perfectly. An intense dramatic/futuristic tone with a dramatic part of the movie...great buildup and release, excellent use of piano and string instruments mixed in with a synthesizer...I cant stop naming off good things about this soundtrack and the movie that it accompanies so very very well.
for me its more than the music, its intertwined in the climax of the movie and the emotion of it and the understanding of what capa has to do and that he'll never see earth again and die the way he fears most...but he knows what he has to do to save earth...his bomb, his responsibility.
@spandexman77 its SO epic - the best movie EVER!!! I watch it ever and ever again ...prosac... cold-hot light-dark good - evil ...i dont know anymore if i watch this movie
I think the only way in US is to buy the soundtrack from Itunes. It took a long time from the release of the movie to finally get the score/soundtrack out. Legal issues between the band Underworld and John Murphy and Movie Company. This version here sounds like its not the version released on Itunes b/c this has of all the extra sound effects from the movie. Might be a fan made OST.
The 1st ship's 'Captain Pinbacker' is supposed to show how religious fanaticism and madness are basically the same thing. That religion is the enemy of mankind. They wanted to make Pinbacker a muslim but didn't dare because of all the fallout it would cause. They chose Mark Strong (an Englishman) for the part because he looks a little Arabic. He recently appeared in 'Body of Lies' as the head of Jordanian intelligence for instance. He was also in 'Syriania' as a Hezbollah agent in Lebanon.
Because there was enough food on board for the entire crew to get there and back. But he killed the rest of the crew and lived off their share, as well as his own. Also, where are the other dead crew members? Cannibalism may well have taken place also. There are no plot flaws that i'm aware of...
Oh yeah thats right. Well, he still had their share of food rations to live off. The funniest thing about Pinbacker, is that he almost has the beginnings of an 'arabic' accent developing towards the end, along with his religious fanaticism/fatalism. Ha, nice touch Mr.Boyle. I know you couldn't just cast him as a muslim, but you did your best to subliminally suggest that sentiment. Well done sir.
So the moral of the story is - Religion and Monotheism are a bad thing. You'll notice none of the 2nd crew are religious. There is also much research and knowledge of what lack of sunlight causes - depression/suicide etc. There is however no research or knowledge of what over exposure to light does to the mind over an extendeed period of time. They went for the idea of Mania/insanity/religious fanaticism. I thought it was a great ending - that man becomes his own worst enemy in the end...
Aparently this soundtrack was never released due to legal disputes. The composer of this song is John Murphy - you can purchase some of his other incredible work on the 28 days later, Millions and Miami Vice soundtracks. Also check out the Requiem for a Dream soundtrack - different composer, same music.
True...if u want to see this song put to a vid in a little different light check out my UFC 83 Promo i did with this song, it's pretty dramatic. I love this score!!!
this movie digs into the human soul man. there is so much to be said about the whole movie, that 500 words are not enough.

humanity must have when they come
face to face with our Star, the Sun.
Great Movie, yet underrated.

I really like this song, but unfortently the movie dissapointed me. The last 30 minuttes of it was just riddiculus.
DangDangPictures 3 years ago
if there weren't anything ridiculous to be seen in sci-fi movies... then they wouldn't be fiction, they would be just science movies.
RyeZiLLa 3 years ago
You must have misunderstood me. The last 30 minuttes of this movie was awfull, bad and riddiculus. I mean, what ending is that?

you mean the pinbacker character ruins the end of the film

That wasn't all of them, there were only 2-3 bodies in the observation room.

the ship was solar powered and self sufficient. He could grow crops, and the water and air are recyclable.
ribenawrath 2 years ago
if u look in the movie when they get in they all killed themself in the "view the sun room" all their bodies are there nd covered in ash
cbast2517 3 years ago
Yeah thats right, sorry i forgot that bit. Did they all commit suicide though, or did Pinbacker trick them all into the room and then kill them??
sidious76 3 years ago 2
pinbacker prolly killed them all and just dumped their bodies in the room exposed to the sun
