Unoriginal? Too backward-looking? Just a retro band? who cares, it's about time indie rock and neo-garage rock got injected with a healthy dose of bubblegum. Matt Smith can sneeze a better hook than 95% of other bands working today. Go Cherry!
Spring Reverbs were a Matthew Sweet side project, they made at least one 7" where they cover Serge Gainsbourg's "Les Sucettes". I meat Matthew a couple of Months ago during the European tour, he's a very interesting person.
Really great records and they sound really good live. But, they are so grumpy! I saw them at Double Door and I was literally waiting to see somebody in the band smile. Perhaps Detroit is really depressing? I am not a musician, but I am of the opinion that it is a privilege to play your music in front of an audience. If you play live and give the impression that you would rather be doing anything but, your audience will feel exactly the same way. It sure can't help your record sales!
@mdgarmager they sure do look dour! heck, even that chick in the audience looks positively bored. crazy, considering how this music couldn't be more upbeat and sunny.
I agree. Some of their stuff is too moody and psychedelic for me. This song and almost every song from this record rules!! Might go see them in September if I can clear my schedule.
Way groovy bubba gumma pop tonic for the masses.

I`ll be honest. I don`t like all their music. But what I like, I really like! This is one I can`t get enough of. Fantastic band.

I saw them back in late 2005 at Washington DC's Black Cat. They were the support band for Electric Six and rocked the hell that night! Go Cherry!
