  • Ha fuunny (sarcasm) not like u havent mispelled somethin before

  • Teddy Riley!

  • high as a motherfucker

  • I get the job done...

  • So lil wayne is stupid

I could have swarn he got straight A's

    Hmmmm

  • @Zaynonna Swarn????????????? You obviously did not get straight A's

  • oh shit is BDK lip synchin?

  • Today's Rappers are to fucking uneducated, thuggish & violent to even speak at schools. We all know that times change, but today's so call rap is just a pile of repetitive,auto-tuned,shitty beats,pre-school lyrics & the inability to rap lyrically. So keep calling us old schoolers old & played out, because until the day they bury me i will NEVER spend a penny on any of today's shitty ass music.it has turned into a nation wide GANG industry. colors, beef, violence, death,no respect, ect.

  • Dam Big Daddy Kane got S.W.A.G.

  • 1:29-1:35 goin Eddie Murphy on him lol

  • Lil Wayne ain't got nothing on Big Daddy Kane

  • That's when RAP/ HIP HOP had style, FLAVOUR and individuality!!! Whatever happened to CREATIVITY??? Back when YOU purchased a tape/ cd and could play it from front to back or through..... I MISS THOSE DAYS......

  • These dumb ass logos on these Hip Hop video need to go.It's not your video.lol

  • what year is this?

  • Ah man.....check out those high-top fades!!!!......This clearly is one of the best jams ever!.....Will be watch Big Daddy on TV One Unsung!

  • You need to vote down this fucking spam about how to rap!

  • BIG DADDYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! LOTTSA LOTTSA LOVE AND BIG UP!!!

  • The reason this is so fantastic is that Kane always did exactly what HE thought was fresh. He wasn't following a trend, or taking cues from someone else. Kane is such a bad ass. (Except for the shoulder pads.) :)

  • After Kane's successful Set It Off album, his fans were patiently waiting for a repeat of that hardcore forthcoming album.

Although it never surfaced, he went more RnB that R.A.P. He was also a good writer, hence the Vapours for Biz Markie and Lucie;s Rap for Roxanne Shante on Rick Jame's single!

Even reggae fans that hated rap back in the days would hear Kane's "Set It Off" and say re wind that Bomber Clart and play it again!

  • During the peak of his career, Kane was the man. He Revolutinised the whole Rap game in the late 80's. He had more female fans than a top RnB singer, and he appealed to the hardcore thugs as well.

Jay Z may have the money, but Kane had the RESPECT!!!

  • This was 2pac inspiration you can tell pac got a lot of style from him

  • LEGEND...Only ARSENIO HALL to have guests like these...

    DAVID LETTERMAN? JAY LENO?

    Wtf????

  • HERE COMES KANE!!!!!

  • Kane more gangsta with his lyrics than niggas act gangsta today, and he's talking about women.

  • I'm trying to find a song of his that came out from 89-91. I can't think of the name of it but it was a damn good song. Any idea's?

  • @lizmorris1969 lyrics??

  • Why are THE NICEST MC'S from Brooklyn??? It's like they BREED rhyme stars!!! Name me a city, borough, or state than can f**k with THIS team: Rakim, BIG, Hov, Big Daddy Kane, Fabolous, Special Ed, Lil Kim...did I forget anyone??

  • I swear i remember trying to stay up late so i can watch this omg....

  • Sexy motherphucker. This is my song!

  • damn its a shame how kids my age dont even know who Kane is!!!! im 15 and BDK is def in my top 5,he wants to be #1 but Kool G Rap,Roxanne Shante,Kool Keith & AZ just wont let him

oh how i wish i was alive around these times, even the arsenio show, no hip hop show can compare to Arsenio

shit aint fair.........*sighs*.you older cats is lucky

  • Jazzy Management

  • When Gold meant Platinum....

  • I take em eight to eighty, dumb crippled and crazy.

So, do you all feel comfortable with this song?

  • Hip Hop in the golden age always had an element of fun...like jazz there will often be stuff in there that is so sick...so good...that you just have to laugh. I don't hear that anymore. Maybe i'm hearing the wrong stuff? But then back in the day we had to walk 5 miles thru the snow barefoot to see a show ;0)

  • Without a shadow of a doubt, Big Daddy Kane is one of the greatest artist ever to set foot on the planet. He has all my strengths and none of my weaknesses. He is the reason to why I listen to Hip Hop in the first place.

Sir Big Daddy Kane i am absolutely begging you to release another album.

  • this is dopeeee

  • I was in 9th grade when this came out! Ahh the good ole days.

  • Ice T was telling kids to stay in school??

  • any husband won't, I'm a neighbor who will, get the job done.

  • any husband won't, I'm a neighbor who will, get the job done.

  • great eddie murphy impression lol

  • BROOKLYN STYLE!!!!!!

  • Sexy Chocolate Kane...I love to see him dance...he still can do those moves

  • I used to love watching Arsenio Hall back in the day! Say what ya want but he had the hottest celebrities as guests. I Love Big Daddy Kane

  • Big Daddy Kane is immortal. When you me and everyone here dies...years later they would still know who Big Daddy Kane was.

  • Kane has a lot of great advice on MCing in the book "HOW TO RAP: The Art & Science of the Hip-Hop MC" - definitely worth checking out if you haven't already

  • BIG DADDY KANE IS BACK!!! .....SEARCH BRIGHT LIGHTS BIG DADDY KANE

  • 0:22 THAT NIGGA B.D.K HAS ON SOME SHOULDER PADS.

  • amen my brother ,real rap is gone.

  • back when ya needed the goods & not just a bullshit image & gimmick.

  • I miss REAL rap like this. Big Daddy had the best backup dancers EVER.

  • OMG...Legendary Hp hop right here ..big daddy kane Classic...

  • YEYEYE YOU ALL TALK BOUT LIL SHIT WAYNE TO DISS HIM , THATS IS RIGHT, BUT IF YALL BRING HIM ON THE TABLE DAT MEANS YOU FUCKIN LOVE HIM NOW MUTHAFUCKAS,,,,,,,,,,,,, AINT IT RIGHT?? STUPID ASS BITCHES

  • whats that beat at the beggining

  • Scoob luva my brutha

  • My oh my what happened to rap music?!

  • 1 OF THE BEST VOCALISTS OF ALL TIME

  • That's right! I forgot before Jigga got with Ski and Original Flava he used to open for Big Daddy. I remember when Big Daddy wanted to battle Rakim on a Marley Marl track but MC Shan talked them out of it.

  • i hate when they take the camera off scoop and scrap

  • Soop and scrap was so ill

  • I remember when this was THE SONG!! it's still jammin to me!!

  • @Planobigdog Me too!

  • I totally disagree!!! Grafitti is one of the pillars of Hip Hop!

  • @ozzdubar _ I think his point is not that he is anti graffitti but anti having rap pigeon holed .... He didn't want his music to be categorized .... he was looking in to the future .. smart man .. he already had a degree in engineering prior to blowing up as a mc

  • @markdrew3535 I can agree with that point.

  • You're right, grafitti writing is the second element of Hip-Hop.

  • Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!

LoL I miss the Arsenio Hall Show

    "Some Cheese"

  • kane fucked up when he added the girl dancers, they couldnt even dance

  • Hahahaha "We'll be right back with Powers Boothe." Random!

  • I give mad props to Arsenio Hall at the time for bringing big name acts like Big Daddy Kane on his show. I remember this like it was yesterday. Lyrics, beats, showmanship I miss it! Check out the trailer to my Hip Hop movie "Battle"

  • eveyrone write tv1 on their twitter so they can show arsenio hall reruns

  • Yeah ya right, this is true rap, no cursing lyrics, just sharp understandable lyrics and they put on a show to boot... Best years of rap I agree.

  • @Sangria3

YEP..80s and early 90s were the best times not only for music but for everything. Period..

  • mikieson, Don't forget the 70's they were hot also.

  • This is what real hip-hop is all about! Lil Wayne, Soulja Boy and 50 Cent don't even compare with Big Daddy Kane. Best years for rap music 1988-1997.

  • BLAH

  • What does BLAH mean? Do yo not like Big Daddy Kane?

  • @leroy592 WHY WHY WHY OH FUCKIN WHY EVERY TIME I SEE A HIP HOP VIDEO DO I GET TO HEAR ABOUT FUCKIN LIL BITCH WAYNE OR SOME PUNK ASS WIPE WANNABE-A-RAPPER FOR FUCK'S SAKE ???? ALL YOU FUCKIN IDIOTS TALK ABOUT LIL WAYNE BUT IF YOU DO SO THAT MEANS YOU LOVE HIM STUPID CUNTS MUTHAFUCKAS AND DAT IS FUCKIN REALITY

  • @leroy592 please even mentioning those names on a video like this is a diss to big daddy kane, lets just say fuck modern hip-hop

  • Not being racist, but they look like brothers

  • wow, those were some some serious flat-top haircuts back in those days, i almost forgot about those...looks like u coulda landed a plane on top of their heads! haha! but that was the style

  • Big Daddy Kane is a legend... Not just a great rapper but also a man who spoke alot of sense. Seems very down to earth and I miss that in Hip Hop Artists today... They've lost themselves with all the greed & publicity they're receiving.

  • @darowdeeone

Nowadays it´s all about makin money beeing on the Forbes Millionaire List and don´t give shit about their community. That´s wthat modern day rap artists are.

They´re just a bunch of sell out studio rappas.

  • You are so right! I'm 27 but I remember the days when rap had a true meaning. These (mainstream) rappers today are WACK!

  • i use to have the biggest crush on him, i was a14 year old virgin but he could have popped my cherry!

  • Wow...all these years I neva picked up on Kane's lisp... U can't hear it in his delivery though...A lot of the best MCs had lisps or other speech impediments...I've seen Kane perform like 3 times...Cats nowa days ain't fuckin wit em'....lyrically or in concert....

  • I was thinking the same thing when i heard him talk. I've seen a lot of interviews with him and I think it's just the audio on this. His T's and S's were kinda harsh on that mic. I never heard a lisp in any other interview though.

  • ' Even wit' a lisp... I still sound cris'.

    Big Daddy Kane.

  • hes much faster back then......

  • YO I am lacking in G Rap's music. If I'm gonna get 2 or 3 G rap albums today which ones should they be? Same goes for Big Daddy Kane.

I like to think that I know my shit when it comes to hiphop (I do) but there is kinda a gaping hole in my rap history when it comes to G Rap and BDK

Hit me up w suggestions, 3 most necessary albums by either...

  • Please don't sleep on G Rap. His rhyming ability is incredible. I think "Wanted Dead or Alive" is his best record so check that out. His versatility and consistency on that record was on point. Also check out "Live and Let Die". That is arguably G Rap at his storytelling finest. You'll feel like a walked out of a classic gangsta flick with that one. The ultimate G Rap song is "Men At WorK" IMO. That record took lyricism to the point of no return!

  • U need ALL of G Rap... Road 2 Riches... Live and let die.. Kane.. ALL cause it's not fair of u to not have them all "It's A Big Daddy Thang"

  • Kool G Rap-- Road to the Riches, Wanted Dead or Alive, Live and Let Die. Big Daddy Kane-- Long Live the Kane, It's A Big Daddy Thing, Taste of Chocolate and (sorry I gotta add a fourth) Prince of Darkness. Anything you wanna know about real hip hop (1979 - 1997) I'm the man you need to hit up. I didn't just listen to the records...I wasn't told what happened in a hip hop documentary...I was there, man.

  • word,

and you've got Tom Waits songs favorited, good man

  • Scoop and Scrap were dope!

  • Star Trek reference. Male dancers. Suit--with shoulder pads. Three things nobody'd ever associate with popular rap today. Old school may be old, but as with wine, aged hip-hop just has better taste.

  • HOT DAMN!!! Daddy got the job DONE!! *woot*

  • what was the name of the beat that was playing in the begining of the video

  • "I Left My Wallet In El Segundo" by A Tribe Called Quest

  • IT'S CALLED "WARM IT UP KANE"

  • True Rap Legend, In His Prime Untouchable

  • to me, he and rakim, they invented and flipped NY rap, NY stilo all dat talk about NY rap, slang, attitude, cyphering... R A W

  • yeah they did,the people that are the so called greatest toda got their style from kane and rakim

  • I think its safe to say they got their style from kane, rakim, krs-one and g rap

  • It seems like urban music R&B and Hip Hop is now about making money back in the day it was about real talent

  • There is NO ONE like Big Daddy!! Sorry LL...he does not have to do anything but be Big Daddy!

  • YEAH

  • Hip hop= rap, graffiti and breakdancing....much respect to Kane, though....

  • Don't forget DJing very important since now everything is artificially made in a studio.....

  • What!!? Rap should be in the same space as grafitti & break dancing. I don't know how violence got thrown in there though. Kane thought he was an R&B star or something.

  • Funny-he started off with the last verse, and faked it by saying he's doing an encore at the end of the song lol.

  • thats how he did it in concert

  • I miss rap like this, so cool.

  • bdk blood type is coffee

  • my favs:

    1. Rakim

    2. Chuck D

    3. BDK

  • By and Beat, I know you all not going at it over real rap artist! Go diss these no jacks of today that are killing rap music at a rapid pace! On the BET awards the other night, the old school got love and the no school, only had about three or four people standing up! Get the crowd and get the respect! Pac, Big, and Kane, stand as the best, and always will! You know LGKids had to step in about the legends! Peace to you both, no diss, just concern!

  • Do you all notice that they don't even say these kind of things about Lil Soulja Boy or any of these no jacks of today! They talk about how much money they may have, but they don't talk about the flow! And I wish they would have walked up in my high school back in the day! The whole day would have been rap central!

  • damn he looks like wesley snipes, true player right there

  • listen to his voice...he musta been 23

  • Big Daddy IS #1. Smooth...and he can dance... The lyric master!!

  • Comment removed

  • rip arsenio hall's career wtf happnd???

  • prototype chopper suit

  • Incredibly gifted mc, one of my all time favorites...

  • DAM, BIG DADDY, BIG DADDY BIG DADDY DAMMMMMMMMMM...thank you, enough said

  • Comment removed

  • One of the best ever!!! Big Daddy was cool being himself. All these cats now want to be hardcore and not have fun with it like Kane did.

  • I can't believe people think 2pac and BIG are actually any good. That had to be one of the weakest points in rap music in my opinion. Big Daddy Kane actually has some real talent. Just listen to Set it Off.

  • u dont know about hip hop thats why

  • I don't know much about the weak ish.

  • the weakest point in rap is the present day. 2 pac and biggie were good but it was when the lil "gangsta" rap came out

  • Comment removed

  • When I read posts like beatjunkie's, it's perfectly obvious why they don't like BDK. Can't spell 50% of their words correctly and he can't even construct a thought that anyone can make sense of.

U friggin dumme dat ass cockring eva dey ppl nd sold to slavery die dsrespect...WHAT???

Who told beatjunkie he got points for the red lines under his words? I think he's going for the high score!

  • die soon and slowly and burn in the hottest place in hell.

i still maintain my stand you have no right disrespecting two of the greatest influences on music.

big daddy kane still is one of the best but so are 2pac and biggie and they all deserve their due respect you pussy ass reject.

i still can't believe that you referred to them as the weakest points in hiphop, but thats ok because they will forever be remembered in the hearts of millions and you will not, have a good life ^_^ idiot!!!!!

  • GREAT, why don't you go jerk off to your 2Pac and Biggie posters and stop talking about them under a BDK vid. If we wanted the weak shit, we'd click on the weak shit link.

  • ...lol

  • That made me fucking laugh, It's amazing how illiterate these little kids are, all they do is talk and talk about shit they don't know.

  • Awesome! More Big Daddy Kane on my channel.

  • pay attention Jay Z fans...listen to the flow. i 'm gon need people to start giving old school their props for real.

  • Drayton42667, i'm suppose to be resting how can i do that dancing on the couch in front of my computer LOL

  • damn its a shame how kids my age dont even know who Kane is!!!! im 13 and BDK is def in my top 5,he wants to be #1 but Kool G Rap,Guru(Gangstarr),Kool Keith & Ice Cube just wont let him

oh how i wish i was alive around these times, even the arsenio show, no hip hop show can compare to Arsenio

shit aint fair.........*sighs*.you older cats is lucky

  • lol yeah we're lucky but your smart.

  • I believe he is #1, but the others you listed are no doubt on par. Kane isn't always as consistent but when he's on, he's unstoppable.

    All opinion of course.

  • Right On!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Work it Baby.

  • I can remember watching this back in the day!! Great performance!

  • does anyone on youtube have the smooth operator performance

  • Kane is the shit, every line makes click to another.

  • one of the best rappers ever!!!!

  • Aww man.

    I wish i was alive .

    lol, music was life .

  • Big Daddy Kane is straight up one of the best ever. I must have missed that episode but Kane is one smooth rapper. Rap was fun.

  • darkness

  • its a funky jam

  • One of the greats!

  • big daddy kane he was no doubt my fav solo rapper in the late 80's early 90's. smoooooth!

  • DAMN, I could actually see B.I.G. spittin this but jus a bit slower

  • Yep, Kane is the protoype for B.I.G

Only difference is Kane talked about killing emcees instead of dealers lol.

  • Damn! I thought I was the only one who new that.

  • Kane is is one of the few rappers from the 80's who's material can put any modern rapper to shame.

  • That's true but that's not saying much.

  • Yeah, the game is so much more commercial now. Back then, it was more about who could spit the best rhymes. Now, it's more about who can sell the most records.

  • i hate when they call that krump/ america dance crew brown ship hip hop dancing when u never see it hip hop videos
