  • I like streetlight's version better, the flute is less sharp, the solos are more difficult and interesting, the guitar in the beginning and the drums sound better.

  • this is cool but no lie streetlight solos are more intresting

  • my good taste i music brought me here and its nice that ska bring fans like us together

  • I like the Streetlight version better, it flows.

  • i like the drums in this one better and the flute and the solos arent as crazy but they feel stronger than streetlight version. i love streetlight though.

  • 7 people are riding the fourth wave in the wrong direction

  • @CraViNgCanDy they fell of it got crushed

  • Respond to this video... i loves me some streetlight, but ill be so bold as to state that the catch 22 cut of keasbey nights was better; it was just more raw

  • ska punk rocks :D

  • catch 22's flute player owned streetlight's. ill give em that much. im more of a streetlight fan tho :P plus the drums in streetlight's version make it more epic

  • @Sublemon7 Streetlight never had a flute. Lol they used a recorder, or something similar to that for their version

  • i like streetlight manifesto's version better only because of the guitar in the into to back up the flute. usually i like catch 22 overall more though.

  • Streetlight is just so much more technically skilled.

  • Does this mean 4th wave will include flutes? I don't know about you, But I'm breaking out my bassoon! :D

  • @imabadexample1 - I'm gonna break out my French Horn!

  • that flute is crazy sharp. it hurt my ears. i love the band though, great song other than that!

  • I like the one with Kalnoky more actually. Haha, finally a keasbey vid where no one is fighting. Both albums were great. The only "music" I can't really appreciate is death metal screamo crap, pop, dubstep, and country. None of those are really music...

  • @thunderectum lay off dubstep!

  • @TheMetalupyourass83 look it up..hip hop meets electronic meets reggae meets drugs

  • i like most of streetlight's stuff better, but this one is so awesome

  • no to be a fav player but music wise streetlight is way better at this song solos arent all that good

  • @albysfdl haha dude its all about your opinion on what is a good solo. i personally like catch's solos in this song.

  • @1blink8man2 me too, this is my 2nd real song i learned on trumpet...i just barely started

  • great schilling whistle intro

  • weather its streetlight or catch this song is awesome

  • starting 4th wave YES!

  • "university life" got me here ;)

  • like this better than the streetlight version

  • You music illiterates need to learn your instruments.

    That's not a flute into.

    It's a penny whistle.

    Big difference.

I could understand mistaking it for a piccolo, but a flute?

    Gahh. -.-

  • great flute intro

  • You know you're a ska kid when you misspell your favorite song

  • sickest drums EVER!!! at the start

  • imagine if B.o.t.a.r. did this...

  • Streetlight sounds more solid, the brass in this sound too sqweeky for me.

  • the drums in every song which has also been recorded by Catch 22 > the Streetlight version. The drums sound gross and aren't recorded well in the old Streetlight songs which were also done by Catch 22

  • Catch 22 has its betters, and so does Streetlight. Honestly, I like the Streetlight mix of it.

  • :D lovce this song. ti makes me dance, be happy even when im sad :DDDD <3

  • Gotta love the FORUTH wave

  • Comment removed

  • Have to say Streetlight sounds better... mainly because that trombone in Streetlight's sounds 50 times more badass xD

  • not gonna lie im a die hard streetlight fan but i kinda like catch a little more

  • you people sound stupid. just shut up about which version is better.. no one cares alright? and considering that everyone has there own oppinions you can think that streelight manifesto is way better than catch 22 or vice versa but in the end they did the exact same album with the same songs. you cant really like the catch 22 version of riding the fourth wave without liking the other version by streetlight because there pretty much the same fucking song. shut the fuck up and listen to the ska.

  • As a trombonist and long time jazz musician, i would have to say this version is so much more simple compared to the Streetlight version. The solo's in the Streetlight version are so well thought out and almost impossible to play, even after 13 years of music. This one i can almost play all three (excluding the ocarina) and i just picked up sax. but i still do appreciate this song none the less.

  • Sounds more like a recorder or ocarina to me.

  • @KSixStringX actually it's a tuba. It's fucking amazing the range these guys get out of an instrument.

  • y eso no es nada fer pero ya no te preguntare

  • This version seems like a simplified version of the other. I think that though that does lessen the impact of it, this one seems easier to follow. If that made any sense.

  • Why are people divided over which version is better? They are very similar bands. Its not like they were covering a jimi hendrix song or anything.

  • Im happy i am able to ride the fourth ska wave :3

  • My ears said thanks ^^

  • so much better than streetlight s version

  • trombone solo rocks!!

  • I think it's a Ocarina, a type of ancient instrument also used alot in The Legend Of Zelda :D

  • according to Mr Kalnoky himself, its almost a fact that streetlight music is better than the catch music he was a part of. this is his own opinion with his own music. but everyone has their own unique opinion. cheers to everyone who loves this music over that load of crap justin bieber. haha

  • fuck all of you i love both versions <3

  • streetlight's version is bettter IMO.

  • @esuohkcats1 They are both equally good :3

  • thats right. you know a songs gonna be badass when it starts with an epic flute solo.

  • one question please-the singer from streetilight manifesto is the same from the one in catch 22

  • @JuggledaJungle kinda of.....The original singer of catch 22 who wrote keasaby nights album Tomas Kalnoky left catch 22 and created streetlight and BOTAR now catch 22 is basicly a whole different band with a different singer ..tbh they should have changed the name when he left

  • Oh look...four people missed the like button. : )

  • this is paetzell.....

wow, we sounded pretty good on this one!

    nice job, guys!

  • some down 4th wave , right ?

  • i lovw how ska bands have like the best basslines ever :]

  • guys! music is about enjoying life! not criticizing!

  • oh, and try listening to the streetlight one & the catch 22 one at the same time, it's mind-blowing 0_0

  • yeah so Catch's drummer is awesome but Streetlight's horns are better. It's a tough one

  • Oh... oh... oh...

I don't know, the solos seem less complete on the Catch 22 one, but... the drums are better...

Probably just from recording quality, and length, I'd go for Streetlight Manifesto.

  • I completley agree.

  • @rocketgem79 i agree i dont like tthere stuff because horns and sax anre much quiter but the drummer is better 1234 is a good example the bass playerin both bands are still good though

  • Catch22 has one of the best drummers in the bidness.

  • @meowsthi not even close. check out streetlight manifesto's version of this song. or any song. this guy is a joke in compared to him

  • @saturatedfact Shoudn't you be off eating a dick, and not adding your idiotic replies to my comments? Go get fucked, please, and cease your ignorant ramblings.

  • @saturatedfact ^ hell yes. Streetlight's drummer is fucking amazing.

  • I like this so much better than Streetlight's. The only one I like better.

  • Im kinda lovin the streetlight version wayy more

  • it would be good but the drums idk

  • really? i think streetlights drumer is the closest a human could get to neil pert.

  • i think hes good but just in that keasbey album its just sonething that i cant explain

  • i think the drum intro in this version is much more "explosive"

  • Comment removed

  • the solos are definitely better on the streetlight version. but that's probably just because they had matured more as players by the time of the keasbey rerelease

  • I think I need to see a doctor... I can taste tomatoey spaghetti whenever I hear this version >_>

  • Yay Synesthesia!!! XD I just see alot of dark blue and orange their are other colours too but blue and orange are more dominant

  • just stick to the pot man ;)

  • this is still awesome, but the streetlight one is more awesome

  • I am sure someone said something about this WAY earlier in this thread of catch vs Streetlight, and that is

    You misspelled "fourth"

  • sounds a little more limited than what streetlight does

  • Both versions are great, and I love both bands, but I just get more feeling from Streetlight's work. Not just their covers, but the original stuff too. They're just a more powerful band to me.

  • Kalnoky!

  • gotta love the tomas spam, especially on songs where he essentially did nothing

  • You are so very right, I couldn't agree more...jackass

  • there both good bands who gives a shit they both rock and if u only listn to streetlights cover songs fuck u there songs r amazing soooo everybody settle down both bands are good

  • i think catch 22 is better in every way the sound the vibe street light is good but thay failed at trying to make the songs better thay just sould like cover songs to a cd that had no room for improovment becus it allreaddy was the shit ...

  • wow!!! if if i had the ball to find the words for what u just said...

  • I like the Streetlight version better.... i think both songs should be longer, the ending is too abrupt

  • this one is kinda running anywhere destroying every obstacle , no walls

  • i like this version and streetlights version...this music makes me wanna do something epic that will let the world know what were(the ppl who listen to this) are all about

  • Flute... intro...

  • Gives the old school feeling of being on a mission for something great.. Like bringing great music into the world

  • Fail. It's a tin whistle/penny whistle.

  • doesn`t matter..it`s still awesome!

  • @WMUnited piccolo intro..

  • @textingflute so I've heard.

  • @WMUnited im pretty sure thats a recorder

  • @cookiesdl I used to play flute(I've maned up since then) definitly not a flute.

  • @WMUnited sounds like an ocarina to me!!!

  • @WMUnited Very...good...

  • I like this version better than Streetlight's :D

  • I appreciate both bands for their music

I love both Kalnoky-era Catch and current era Catch, as well as all of Kalnoky's other bands.

Music is supposed to bring people together, not tear them apart

  • Amen haha

  • Amen.

  • I agree with you. I think of Kalnoky's Catch and the current Catch as two different bands; both are excellent they just have an entirely different sound.

  • @Klyde420 well put 420 ..hope to see you at sum punk show or where ever you at

  • Omg, I forgot about that song, used to LOOOVE it 10 years ago...

  • YEAH!

  • stop talking crap if u dont like it dont listen to it

  • new catch was only good in their second album, and that still wasnt better than kalnoky's keasbey. it had better intumentals tho. but does anyone think that streetlights version of keasbey sounds fucked up. (like hes voice) like when SM play keasby songs live it sounds great. (it sounds like catch's version) but when it comes to listening to keasby nights i always listen to the orginal album never SMs (unless its live)

  • i have both versions in my ska playlist, simply because the solos are so different and great.

  • the streetlight version is just how tom wanted this to sound tom wrote all these songs from keasby he just re recorded them the way he wanted them done originally with streetlight . and theyre both good theres not streetlight catch war

  • Streetlight Manifesto is performing this song much better.

  • i disagree.

  • I dont have anything personal against catch 22, but I don see how ANYONE can think catch 22 is more talented than streetlight. it's an embarrassing comparison, in my opinion.

  • cheers! Totally agreed

  • okay....im clueless, spot me in. SLF vs. Catch 22? whats the fucking beef? both bands are great.... whats the problem? I dont get it

  • well u c, catch 22 wasnt very happy when tom kalnoky started streetlight. a small feud occured, but they have made up, and i believe that the ska community should just accept that instead of fighting.

  • theyre both great bands anyway, so it shouldnt even matter

  • great jersey music to skank to.......

  • I like streetlight's version way better

  • guys, 2gether we must stop the catch/streetlight war. they both r awesome. spread the word of peace

  • so right! They are both kickass! better sax solo on this one tho x)

  • i dont get this versus shit? obviously we are looking at kids from an overpriveledged highschool...fuck yeah,,,,correct my speling richies...

  • i like this version better. =D

    but SM still wins hard.

  • come on guys i think we can all agree they are both amazaing bands and leave it at that

  • I agree, Streetlight and Catch 22, Both AMAZING bands, Pretty much the best two Ska bands in my opinion.

  • stop the catch22 vs streetlight manifesto bullshit

  • Well, I think the Streetlight version is better, but there are others songs of which I think the opposite, e.g. This One Goes Out To.

  • I love this song!

  • its good

but i think streetlight is better than

    catch 22

  • because kalnoky left Catch. I will follow whherever he goes. He is a musical and lyrical genius.

  • I think the Catch 22s is better, but they are bad live

  • this track makes me feel the springtime :) :) :)

  • Epic!

  • I love catch 22 and streetlight (kind of obliged to, anyways, kalnoky is amazing =]] but I like both voluntarily). Their version of "riding the fourth wave" is a lot better than streetlight's cover, in my opinion.

    ~Kayothic

  • Nah, I just think it's faster to spell it that way.

  • u spelt fourth wrong

  • You spelt "You" wrong.

  • haahahahhahahah nice =]

  • Lmfao Eels.

Great song, one of many Catch 22's song that owns.

  • Streetlight etas this 1000 times

  • streetlights is so much better

  • naaaa, i like streetlights better

  • The trombone solo was better in Streetlight Manifesto's version but Catch22's is better.

Still, I feel Catch22 have lost a lot when Tomas left. Alone In A Crowd is not such a good album.

  • ska, she makes you happy.

  • better then SM version imo

  • this is the sickest ska jam ever! i love it.... by the way u spelled FOURTH wrong.

  • This is what i skank to.......

    It's really fun.

  • I love how gritty Catch 22's stuff is compared to Streetlight.

  • agreed,

    its got a punk edge,

unlike the clean developed neatness that streetlight has

  • I don't know about that.

    I don't think they're clean.

    Reel Big Fish is clean.

Streetlight Manifesto have developed a different kind of grittiness which all punk band have.

  • yeah, they have a punk to them,

but im talking about the latest album,

its self proclaimed 4th wave and its more instrumental than just a straight forward punk beat.

  • What, Somewhere in the Between? That's self-proclaimed 4th wave now? I haven't seen that anywhere.

...I don't think I'm understanding what you mean though.

  • 1st wave of ska

2nd wave of ska - two tone

    3rd wave - ska punk

    4th wave - streetlight manifesto

  • ya all gotta love the new jersey "I" its perfect! both versions are great but catch 22 has the original and therefore, i think thiers is better

  • i like this version much better cause streetlight meddled with a few notes in the bass and intro and made thier version sound sadder and minor, like most of streetlights stuff, thats why i like catch22 better. but streetlight had a better trombone solo in thiers version of this

  • i actually like the streetlight version more but it still lacks the two tone kinda sound like this has.

  • both kick ass, but i like the drums in this better, much more powerful

  • While the solos in this one are alright, the ones in the SLM version are much better, cleaner, and have more of a full sound.

  • Great band, too bad not too many people know about it.

  • i think the only better thing about this version rather than the slm version is the intensified drums

  • if they had the streetlight flute/acoustic intro and the rest of this, it would be the greatest song ever.

  • dude i love nj as the "i" in live. It fits them perfect.

  • Catch 22 sounds too drunk in everything.

glad they cleaned up a little of the extra stuff for Streetlight.

  • i personally think the streetlight version is better. but a great song anyway even if a way to short

  • streetlights whole re recordig of

    keasbey nights tops the original

  • totally agree:!

  • yeah, wish this was longer.

  • yeah i could listen to this for much longer

  • i gotta say, i love streetlight, but the original is almost always better, which it is in this case.
