  • The one fight I got into in school back in the day I did something very similar to a bully and his 2 bumm buddies who attacked me after school and everyone saw, the last guy I threw a hip throw in though, he broke his leg on landing, my friends and I never got bullied after that and the islander boys seems to fear us as they saw what I did with the weight of the bullies:) I love martial arts!! :D Great video mate!

  • Steven Segal. Is there a diff between aikido and haikido. Ive always heard of it with the ladder.

  • This is staged, if he fights in the cage he is doomed

  • if people learn karate or anything

they never attack people like that

it's hard to make submition to people who learn matrial art

  • ok it looks cool and im sure its difficult but its probably near impossible against real fighting skills.

  • This is great.. but a real fight these days is VERY unpredicatable, and dangerous. You might beat a guy one day with your aikido skills, and the next day he rolls 12 deep with Uzi's on your whole family. The days of mano-a-mano in the real world are long gone.

  • Nice man! I go thai boxing but aikido looks easy but I think its hard nice nice nice man!! :)

  • Aikido is really hard, even though in THIS video it doesn't seem like it, but they're using a lot of effort. It just LOOKS like the street fighters are Duma's

  • I took karate but stopd at blue belt BUT.. I STARTED MY 1st AKIDO TRIAL 2day WHAT IVE LEARNED IS ITS NOT ONLY BOUT ATTACKING UR PARTNER.. THATS WHAT KARATE TEACHES YOU.. BUT AKIDO TEACHES U THAT YET, ITS BOUT DEFFENDING YOUR PARTNER TO I DEFFINETLY THINK AKIDO IS MORE OF A WAY YOU Cn DEFFEND YOUR SELF FROM AN ATTACKER WHICH NOW AS I AM 13 I NEED :) AND AS YOU CAN SEE AT THE SAMETIME U STILL HAVE WAYS OF HURTING THE OPPOMENT IN AKIDO. u can c that whatever the karate man dos the akido man flips

  • Looks like they put one of his students in a Karate gi.

  • @jcamp84 I was going to post the same thing! Dont get me wrong, I respect Aikido and will be starting classes this week, but I'm a brown belt in Karate and there is no way in hell I would go at someone who had no experience in art, defence, etc.. That way. They were just giving thier hands, legs and bodies up. Waste of fine gi.

  • While Aikido can be very brutal, this definitely wasn't.

  • As realistic as "The Flintstones"...

  • If you aren't practicing your art on someone who is actively trying to resist your techniques, then it will likely not work against an opponent who is actively trying to resist. That guy in the karate gi is just going along for the ride, allowing Mr. Aikido to look good.

  • @Sungawd69 what are u blabbering? :D No guy who knows those techniques would resist... because he knows that resisting will cause him much more pain than just going with the flow. It`s just like in judo or bjj. Resisting = pain = useless, if he got ya, he got ya!

eg, I wouldn't survive a judo or bjj fight because i do not know how to counter their techniques. I just know that "resisting" would help me a shit against (for example) a judoka :D.

  • @WimiBussard to be fair - his ukes are pretty sloppy - 1 is wearing a black belt, but I've never met a shodan with such clumsy break falls and he throws everything into those punches - tori isn't so much taking his balance as accepting the gift. And who uses white belts in demos...that's just lazy: In randori, the second attacker could easily re-attack, but he just stands around until he's invited to. That's fine for dojo practice, but you'd expect more effort in a filmed demo...

  • @WimiBussard the point he was making is that in a real scenario his opponent would try to resist and training with nothing but complient partners won't prepare you for the actual thing. like sending a soldier to battle who hasnt experienced people shooting back.

  • @Sungawd69 Aikido is a peaceful martial art. It aims to protect oneself as well as the opponent, as much as safety is concerned. Someone who understand Aikido practice WILL go with the flow. To resist will result on serious injuries, dislodge and/or breaking of bones. It is only wise and sensible not to resist a technique. After all, one of the principles in Aikido is to respect your opponent's ki.

  • @Sungawd69

That's why a good Aikidoka uses his Ki to perform the technique instead of his physical strenght.

  • @Sungawd69 often in demos we dont use resistans ,, but at least in my dojo we often train whith a resisting oponent and sens most videos aore of demonstrations it often builds a fales picture of aikido training

  • @Sungawd69 resistance would result in pain and maybe ruin joints, thus ukemi is self defense as well. A gi is a gi....

  • @Sungawd69 I agree with rlfischbeck. He is letting himself get thrown around because if he does try to resist it WILL break bones. That's how aikido was designed. Submit or be broken.

  • @Shawnbfromsd BJJ, Judo, Catch-as-catch-can, etc. were all designed with the same focus on effectiveness and the "submit or be broken" philosophy you ascribe to Aikido. However, if you have ever watched their competition sparring or an MMA event, it is clear that simply locking in the technique cleanly does not automatically result in a break/submission. Technique is not everything. Timing, rhythm, transitional flow, etc. can only be developed through free sparring.

  • @Sungawd69 The guy in the karate gi is also an Aikidoka. And the purpose of "going along" is to understand motion and ki flow. As it is in Tai Chi. The only reason guys like you comment like this is because you can't see how it applies to real combat - which fyi Aikido teaches to avoid in the first place. Not all MA's are made for fighting you know. If u want to go size up your manlines go to an MMA gym, guys like you would fit right in.

  • @Sungawd69 there is no guy in the karate gi there is only the ukei and stei, if the ukei wasnt a practitioner of aikido he would be severely injured during the technique demonstrations, yes this is a demonstration fight any practitioner can tell and its not as easy as going along for the ride you must first learn how to properly apply ukemi as to not break anything or get injured he is definately not just trying to make mr. aikido to look good

  • I love Aikido's wrist control maneuvers.

  • He's only displaying technique, it is not a real fight people.

  • Maybe aikido masters should start breaking limbs to get the nay sayer too understand the technic

  • Nice...

But keep in mind that modern "Martial Arts" (Bu-do) even the ones that claim to be combative are all watered down methods to preserve an "Art" and for the most part, not applicable for the street.

REAL Martial Arts (Bujutsu) are quite scary, but you won't find many in this day & age. Nowadays the most street-effective is probably boxing and grappling.

I love martial arts, but it's just as it's called; an "Art". Pretty to look at & nothing more.

  • @Umeharatommy I guess you are the judge jury and executioner then. "Do" and "jutsu" can be compared critically. However, one or the other cannot simply be deemed more applicable to self defence or more "street-effective" than the other. Boxing and grappling are the most effective self defense systems? I guess I would have to agree with this as NEARLY ALL martial arts contain a form of pugilism and grappling techniques.

My martial art is aesthetically pleasing. It is also destructive. Period.

  • @Umeharatommy "Do" is not any less "REAL" than "jutsu." One could even argue that Do is more "REAL Martial Arts." It's lack of "applicab[ility] for the street" is made up for with discipline, strength of will, spirituality, and self-awareness. In my opinion these elements are more important than brute strength. I've been taught that the most effective use of my training is in avoiding a fight. Learn jutsu if you want to hurt people. Learn Do if you want to be a better person.

  • @Umeharatommy An example- A guy says "What, too chickensh*t to fight me?" Is it more effective to walk away, or to attack him, break his jaw with an elbow in the face, risk getting sued, risk killing someone, risk getting stabbed by his buddy behind you that you didn't see, risk getting shot, risk starting a bar brawl and risking other people's lives, and the list goes on as to what bad things can happen. I'm not picking on you, but the machismo of our culture is unrealistic and dangerous.

  • GREEAT SONG

  • a waste of time. nothing is better then bjj.

  • @tuffboy11 Why would you compare a martial art to a sport? Makes no sense.

  • is this coragraphed?

  • i like how that guy is always calm

  • "here I come again with my arm straight out!!!!!"

  • Not that I'm really commenting on Aikido itself, but as a karateka, those are some of the worst and most telegraphed punches I have ever seen. I realize this seems to be more of a demo, but how does aikido hold up against trained practitioners of other styles?

  • @Proxyy7 "how does aikido hold up against trained practitioners of other styles?"

Excellent question, I thought the same thing myself. I would love to see a "master" aikido instructor vs. say...a MMA kickboxer or amateur straight boxer.

Also, I'd like to see how JKD stands up against boxing/kickboxing.

  • everytime i look aikido movies ,, The Opponent is very offensive

  • BUT,, everytime i look ,, The Opponent is very offensive

  • BUT,, is it real ??

  • if you resist your hand will be broken easly because all the pressure will be on rest bone

  • excellent technique!

  • @isjonathan thanks..

  • @isjonathan this definitely convinced me to take aikido classes. boxing sometimes isnt enough.

  • where are the kicks??? only hands??

  • @Destroid1

Kicks are not needed, you are using the energy of your opponent.

If he pushes, you'll pull and turn your body till his balance is out of control. Then you have your chance to do anything what you want to do with your opponent. :D and believe me it's fun when you have the power to control him or her xD

  • Aikido is so awesome. Performing several separate complicated movements against an opponent who has rehearsed how to cooperate in falling/being thrown/submitted. Any 14 year old who's been wrestling for 1 year in jr high has enough balance and leverage to stifle this crap. I know these people don't understand that, but its becoming more and more obvious so traditional martial artists are just looking dumber and dumber

  • @MrSuhper In the MMA, we now know what works, for years we speculated, this what works, Muay Thai and boxing for striking, wrestling, Judo, and jiujitsu for the ground game. If TKD, Hapkido, kung fu and many others were any good don't you think they would try to prove it. They have and lost in Brazil and the first 3 UFCs. End of Story.

  • @arturtcorreia aikido principles we're derived from japanese jiu-jistsu and can be found in pretty much every martial art even BJJ wrestling and obviously therefore in MMA aswell. There's nothing about that teep (front kick) that Anderson Silva used against Vitor Belfort that was specific to aikido. That was just an ordinary front kick to the head. And btw, this video shows an aikido sensei with his pupils - not a single MMA fighter so the title is misleading. (u can tell from the lame attacks)

  • @arturtcorreia You'd also need a good fighter, however. This guy has no form throwing punches. He just flails inwards. If it were an actual fight with a trained fighter, it'd be a hell of a lot harder to pull off those grabs/moves. Steven Seagal could do fairly well I'd assume because he's very fast, but in general it wouldn't be as dominating as this, if he would win at all.

  • @Iwishiwerethird seagal has never had a real match in his entire life, aikido does not iinclude full contact sparring, seagals aikido includes no type of sparring in fact. Also theres no fighting nor sparring in this aboe video, its a staged demo.

  • Actually, Brazilian Jiujitsu and Aikido is under the umbrella of Aiki-Jujutsu and BJJ is nothing new, just a tweaked version of Japanese Jujutsu used for Ring sport, not really reliable as a Self-defense system because there are a lot of factors that come into play in the real world.

  • funny ... but don't work in the street.... in the real life . MMA powaaaaaaaaaaa!

  • not real

  • That martial artist was totally giving the technique away. Come on

  • #1 RULE FOR MARTIAL ARTS YOUTUBE VIDEOS...........

there are many disciplines but if you claim that one is better then the other you either A: can't afford real classes B: your a troll C: your a 10 year old yellow belt that thinks he's a ninja now just because he got his first colored belt. THE ONLY THING that makes one fighter better then the other(if they are both trained). is how much training the one has over the other. all disciplines work. the victor is the person with better training.

  • Aikido is good against someone who is untrained meaning its good for selfdefense but not necessarily for fighting. But an aikido fighter against jiu jitsu or MMA and you've got yourself a no brainer.

  • Where is the Aikido gym in jordan ?

  • @metaljix in amman - sport city - Prince Rashed Center

  • My Sensei about Kaiten-Nage: If it has to be done fast you don't throw with his arm, you throw with your knee in his face.

  • You all realize if they were resisting each move would be breaking there arm right?

  • @RaphRT You do realize no one with a half a brain would get caught in ANY of those things right?

  • @RaphRT u realize if they were resisting each move, the move wouldn't happen right?

  • @drseth00789 if the person resists, a skilled aikidoka will just do another move. every initial defense or counter in aikido can lead to different end moves or results, and these can be chained over and over again into an endless array of combinations. so even if the guy resists, it just means another more suitable move will have to be used. so even if the initial intended move won't happen, another move will.

  • @TheCandyMan01 100% agree ))

  • hahahaha AIKIDO is the best sport ever,,,i love it

  • I agree

  • I agee

  • Wallah kbeer ya 3ami :D
