Well... I do believe that QR has sth to do with the airport that uses as a hub; and considering that they take pax there, just as a stop, it should take more care of the conditions (I endured 23hrs). Talking in other terms, QR has experienced strong growth, and DOH Airport happened to be too small. QR isn't unaware of those bad conditions, that's why a new airport is being built. Surely, a more comfy one. Meanwhile, I'll surely avoid DOH for long stop-overs. (I travelled KUL-DOH-GRU with QR)

I travelled to HKG with QR in December for the first ( and last ) time. DOH is a complete and utter shambles. I am convinced there are people living on the concourse going by the swathes of humanity camped out on the floor. Couldn't even get a bloody beer ! Dump of the first order.

I have flown qatar airways and it isn't as great as they made it out to be, the food was very nice, but the service very slow, then after the flight you had to struggle to get on a bus from the plane which then gets you to the airport, hoping I then catch my next flight in time, the service at the airport not so good either not very friendly staff!!

British airways is not at fault if the delay is at Heathrow/Gatwick, Cathay Pacific is not at fault if the delay is at Hong Kong, Emirates is not at fault if the delay is in Dubai, you get the point right..? so why is it that if the delay is at Doha, then Qatar Airways at fault. it's 5 star for a reason! pure excellence of service.
The new airport in Doha is going to be alot more sufficient, and it was qatar airways fault for our delay, as they blatantly lied to us by saying that our connecting flight was delayed so we could make the flight, and we missed it.
You can't blame the quality of an airline just because the Airport sucks, just like you wouldn't blame Lufthansa because there is a big queue at their Frankfurt Hub.

I had to stay there for 9 hours. No problem, i could find a seat. I had to stay there from 10 pm to 7 am for my next flight. At that time, there is almost nobody in the terminal and i was alone surfing the net for free at the Samsung Internet service. I slept less than an hour.

this happens all the time the airport is very small and when it is a popular destination they give time for other passengers from other preceding flights. it isboring but it is a beautiful airport so get a life and walk around a little like me. especially when u have 18 hrs to sit in an airport. but the service is amazing
OH MY GOD !!! I flew Qatar airways from SIN-CGK , and guess what?....the put used headsets on the seats , left over from a passenger from DOH-SIN sector,....the crew did nothing when I asked her, why no new headsets given to new joining passenger, and instead putting used ones on the seats.

We flew with Qatar airways and just simply asking for some water for my children was like asking for Gold , im sorry but unless you fly Business class in Qatar Airways only then do you get 5 star service the flight attendant did not smile and were very rude attending you , this was on a 7 hrs flight to hong kong lucky we changed to Virgin atlantic , they were fantastic , i will never fly with Qatar airways again .
Hi dunwooddaz, I just got back from India, I flew Qatar from Houston, Texas to Qatar, Doha, then Qatar to India. I must agree they do offer excellant service on their flights. I am also pleased to share that I did have the experiance that you had in Doha Intl airport. There was soo much sitting room i could not believe it. I did expect it to be much more packed. Both time that I was in Doha was very pleasant. Hope you don't experiance that again. Best wishes.

They were only given the five stars according to their "first-class" services. Other than that, if i had the option, i would fly with anything else. They have actually cursed at my mother and baby sister before. (because she wouldnt stop crying) The crew is rude and dont deserve those five stars!

On a different flight I requested a toy for my five year old nephew which was flying for the first time and they told me that they dont have toys for kids. Annoyed by there service I requested a eye shade to see if it availabile on this flight and the crew member told me we dont give them out on a four hour flight. 5 star airline? R U SURE

Qatar air sucks, the staff are very rude, specially the London staff. They are also very cheap, I requested a eye shade at the begining of the flight and they said they dont have any.
I am non arab, I travelled by Qatar and I think its among the top most Airlines. Cabin crew was very polite. The Airport terminal has new modern clean and friendly look despite the fact it is visited by hundrends of flights daily. It also provides free internet which is rare in western airports. try their duty free shops prices much lower than western airports. At least give them the credit if they are doing well.
Was at DOHA airport on transit in June 2006 and it was pretty like these video, but it has works running at that time... Then i went back in January 2008, also in transit, and it was a pretty good,clean, modern and effective airport. No the best airport in the world, but one of the greatest. I love fly with qatar

I have been there a couple times and I never had any bad experiences. I guess you had one but you should not give bad feedback over the internet for a one time only bad experience. For me, All the cabin crew was really polite and the service was fast and smooth. The crew spoke english and other languages. The airport was clean (considering the part of the world where it is).

FACT: Doha Airport in the dirtiest, nastiest, and embarrasing area of aviation departures/arrivals in the world. Full of stinky labaorers, and long lines, cheap nasty food, and you cant even get a beer. Well, its the Middle East way. Well that's strange. In october 2007 I had to wait for 8 hours on Doha Airport, and all passengers were sent to a 5 star hotel with a room with a shower and a huge ass flatscreen tv and a lot of phones and a breakfast and a lunch and after we ate everything we were taken back to the airport. I liked it. And I did not travel business class...
QR have a lousy service theese days and the lavatories at the premium terinal are to few. Have only 3 in business class section and 5 in the First class section. Then the floor is always wet due to the arabic who can´t visit a toilet without wetting the whole floor. The idea of fine dining is gone and they only offer a rubbish mezze as complimentary.

Okay, here's my verdic about doha airport, it's okay, not too big but not also that small. i think this video is taken on a busy day. I was really glad that the airport is not that big, because i nearly missed my flight to manila LOL, my plane touch down at doha at around 23:50 and my plane is suppose to leave doha at around 00:05, so i was running to gate 16 LOL.
It's like that at Dubai airport it's fucking murder, But now i'm a gold card holder with Emirates so it's ok for me!! saying that sometimes the Emirates business lounge is full as well, You just can't win.
I flew with Qatar Airways to Shanghai, London, and all over basically, since I travel alot and it is worthy of their 5 star record. The poster of this video STILL didn't even bother to correct the title to reflect that this is an airport during the Asian Games. Trying to stir up trouble I say.
Poor service is not limited to Doha Airport. Qatar airways customer service isn't 5 star in my experience. I had real concerns over the standard of service and standards on a Flight to Kathmandu from Doha, no lighting on the rear section of the aircraft, broken tv screens no audio, dirty seats, I provided feedback and heard nothing. The london to Doha flight was fine, but 5 star for only half the journey is not 5 star at all! The lack of any feedback is telling ....
Why do you blame Qatar Airways. It is one of the best airlines in the world. I have flown through Doha numereous times and have never seen it like that. It had to be a special occassion or something but I don't think it was Qatar's fault.
Agree with Hruoderic that this problem concerns to Qatar Airport Authority, not Qatar Airways itself. To be fair to Qatar Airways, the rating agency rates airlines and their home airports (except lounges which is under the airline) separately.
this is a Qatar airPORT issue not Airways. And the only reason you probably saw it like this (which is RARE), is because it's the OLD airport and not the new one (which is the most largest and most advanced airport in the region). Plus you took this during it was super hectic in the old airport because if the Olympics!
So if you cannot deal with situations, delays, bad service in long flights , get at least a business class seat, cause despite of all better space and services, you will not be left by you own under any situation. Even when you decide to move for another company, they endorse your ticket as fas they can, and the escorted services begin again. There's no bad service for business to first pax from any company. They always try harder to accomplish your demand. Airport situation are bad and mad.
we got a bad weather situation once that explains my standards for 5 star service. We were in a group of 8 relatives with Airfrance, all couch seats since it was a flight between AMS to Paris. They put us in others VIP area since theirs was full for first and bus pax, after 45 minutes the sent us to a very nice hotel stay, 2 per room, transfers and all hotel services included on their expenses. Next day, breakfast with AF personnel excusing us for the situation, transfers to apt and ok!!
I think regardless of size, the poster of this video is saying he paid a lot of money for 5 star service. He did NOT realise this would be included in his package. When you pay for a 5 star vacation, ( which nobody should be doing until starvation in our world is under control ) your paying for good service the whole damn way. Not for sitting on a floor in an airport god damnit.
I didn't see or read that he paid a lot of money for star service. I think he said he was disappointed by a 5 star service provider who failed with them in Qatar's International Airport. I'm quiet sure he used a couch service, economy label for majors countries. You can't expect VIP lounges for all coach passengers in a normal airport, even expect a non seat place airport at all. As I said, it was a situation, many stop overs flights at the same time, and no QA help. Did I make the point? :)
I look forward to posting positive feedback regarding my travel experience using the New facilities at Doha when fully complete, until that time the nightmare continues. It is of course all reletive, I am the first to admit that the facilities at London Heathrow (my nearest airport) are in world class terms, poor. We should all aspire to the type of environment and quality offered at airports like Hong Kong and Schiphol. In my experience very good airports.

Totally agree, QA are the best airline I've flown with in economy, so well worth the not so great Doha airport for an hour or two.
Try Heathrow when you're late for a connection and there aren't enough people in security. You'd soon be glad of a seat on the ground.

this happens all the time the airport is very small and when it is a popular destination they give time for other passengers from other preceding flights. it isboring but it is a beautiful airport so get a life and walk around a little like me. especially when u have 18 hrs to sit in an airport. but the service is amazing

OH MY GOD !!! I flew Qatar airways from SIN-CGK , and guess what?....the put used headsets on the seats , left over from a passenger from DOH-SIN sector,....the crew did nothing when I asked her, why no new headsets given to new joining passenger, and instead putting used ones on the seats.
Qatar is a 5 star????.......... Uterly Rubish !!! Emirates will never do that !!

We flew with Qatar airways and just simply asking for some water for my children was like asking for Gold , im sorry but unless you fly Business class in Qatar Airways only then do you get 5 star service the flight attendant did not smile and were very rude attending you , this was on a 7 hrs flight to hong kong lucky we changed to Virgin atlantic , they were fantastic , i will never fly with Qatar airways again .

Hi dunwooddaz, I just got back from India, I flew Qatar from Houston, Texas to Qatar, Doha, then Qatar to India. I must agree they do offer excellant service on their flights. I am also pleased to share that I did have the experiance that you had in Doha Intl airport. There was soo much sitting room i could not believe it. I did expect it to be much more packed. Both time that I was in Doha was very pleasant. Hope you don't experiance that again. Best wishes.

They were only given the five stars according to their "first-class" services. Other than that, if i had the option, i would fly with anything else. They have actually cursed at my mother and baby sister before. (because she wouldnt stop crying) The crew is rude and dont deserve those five stars!

On a different flight I requested a toy for my five year old nephew which was flying for the first time and they told me that they dont have toys for kids. Annoyed by there service I requested a eye shade to see if it availabile on this flight and the crew member told me we dont give them out on a four hour flight. 5 star airline? R U SURE

I am non arab, I travelled by Qatar and I think its among the top most Airlines. Cabin crew was very polite. The Airport terminal has new modern clean and friendly look despite the fact it is visited by hundrends of flights daily. It also provides free internet which is rare in western airports. try their duty free shops prices much lower than western airports. At least give them the credit if they are doing well.

Was at DOHA airport on transit in June 2006 and it was pretty like these video, but it has works running at that time... Then i went back in January 2008, also in transit, and it was a pretty good,clean, modern and effective airport. No the best airport in the world, but one of the greatest. I love fly with qatar

People are addicted to the luxury of the place they live at and wanna bring it with them everywhere ! It is just the worst thing to do when travelling ! Just enjoy what they have to give you !

I have been there a couple times and I never had any bad experiences. I guess you had one but you should not give bad feedback over the internet for a one time only bad experience. For me, All the cabin crew was really polite and the service was fast and smooth. The crew spoke english and other languages. The airport was clean (considering the part of the world where it is).

FACT: Doha Airport in the dirtiest, nastiest, and embarrasing area of aviation departures/arrivals in the world. Full of stinky labaorers, and long lines, cheap nasty food, and you cant even get a beer. Well, its the Middle East way. Dont buy into the Advertisments, look at the live videos of this adacious, horrendous hell hole. DOHA.(oh, and try to get to a plane.....you have to ride a bus out to the plane, like its a municipal airport....) What a joke Doha is.

Well that's strange. In october 2007 I had to wait for 8 hours on Doha Airport, and all passengers were sent to a 5 star hotel with a room with a shower and a huge ass flatscreen tv and a lot of phones and a breakfast and a lunch and after we ate everything we were taken back to the airport. I liked it. And I did not travel business class...

QR have a lousy service theese days and the lavatories at the premium terinal are to few. Have only 3 in business class section and 5 in the First class section. Then the floor is always wet due to the arabic who can´t visit a toilet without wetting the whole floor. The idea of fine dining is gone and they only offer a rubbish mezze as complimentary.

Okay, here's my verdic about doha airport, it's okay, not too big but not also that small. i think this video is taken on a busy day. I was really glad that the airport is not that big, because i nearly missed my flight to manila LOL, my plane touch down at doha at around 23:50 and my plane is suppose to leave doha at around 00:05, so i was running to gate 16 LOL.

Poor service is not limited to Doha Airport. Qatar airways customer service isn't 5 star in my experience. I had real concerns over the standard of service and standards on a Flight to Kathmandu from Doha, no lighting on the rear section of the aircraft, broken tv screens no audio, dirty seats, I provided feedback and heard nothing. The london to Doha flight was fine, but 5 star for only half the journey is not 5 star at all! The lack of any feedback is telling ....

Why do you blame Qatar Airways. It is one of the best airlines in the world. I have flown through Doha numereous times and have never seen it like that. It had to be a special occassion or something but I don't think it was Qatar's fault.

Agree with Hruoderic that this problem concerns to Qatar Airport Authority, not Qatar Airways itself. To be fair to Qatar Airways, the rating agency rates airlines and their home airports (except lounges which is under the airline) separately.

this is a Qatar airPORT issue not Airways. And the only reason you probably saw it like this (which is RARE), is because it's the OLD airport and not the new one (which is the most largest and most advanced airport in the region). Plus you took this during it was super hectic in the old airport because if the Olympics!

So if you cannot deal with situations, delays, bad service in long flights , get at least a business class seat, cause despite of all better space and services, you will not be left by you own under any situation. Even when you decide to move for another company, they endorse your ticket as fas they can, and the escorted services begin again. There's no bad service for business to first pax from any company. They always try harder to accomplish your demand. Airport situation are bad and mad.

we got a bad weather situation once that explains my standards for 5 star service. We were in a group of 8 relatives with Airfrance, all couch seats since it was a flight between AMS to Paris. They put us in others VIP area since theirs was full for first and bus pax, after 45 minutes the sent us to a very nice hotel stay, 2 per room, transfers and all hotel services included on their expenses. Next day, breakfast with AF personnel excusing us for the situation, transfers to apt and ok!!

I think regardless of size, the poster of this video is saying he paid a lot of money for 5 star service. He did NOT realise this would be included in his package. When you pay for a 5 star vacation, ( which nobody should be doing until starvation in our world is under control ) your paying for good service the whole damn way. Not for sitting on a floor in an airport god damnit.

I didn't see or read that he paid a lot of money for star service. I think he said he was disappointed by a 5 star service provider who failed with them in Qatar's International Airport. I'm quiet sure he used a couch service, economy label for majors countries. You can't expect VIP lounges for all coach passengers in a normal airport, even expect a non seat place airport at all. As I said, it was a situation, many stop overs flights at the same time, and no QA help. Did I make the point? :)

I look forward to posting positive feedback regarding my travel experience using the New facilities at Doha when fully complete, until that time the nightmare continues. It is of course all reletive, I am the first to admit that the facilities at London Heathrow (my nearest airport) are in world class terms, poor. We should all aspire to the type of environment and quality offered at airports like Hong Kong and Schiphol. In my experience very good airports.
