@andyandym75 Is it possible to pack a million items in a week. Assuming the packer worked 24 hours for seven days that is only 604800 seconds. Thus the packer would be packing 3 orders every two seconds. No breaks, no sleep. Impossible.

Worked there over Xmas 2009. Hated every minute of it and it really energised me to look hard for work in my chosen field of study. The one good thing is that it's made me more tolerable of my current job when I think back to my experience here. 30 mins break over a 10 hour night shift says it all. Nothing but the sound of machinery to keep you going.

This video only shows 1/3 of the DC. there are 2 stock houses either side of this central packing unit, with one having multiple floors. Massive.

I just started there as a temp stower and i don't know if its the same for people who have permanent jobs there but for me it is an awful place to work. Long boring hours, pressured into meeting high targets, superiors that don't give a damn about you and you don't even feel like you can complain or comment because you might loose youre job

Most managers have plenty of emotional commitment to give to their jobs. If they can be convinced it’s safe and sensible to give it.

This is just another nail in the coffin of the high street. How many shops in the area this DC covers, will loose sales and will layoff staff as a result of this. I'm not saying it's nessecarily wrong, it's just not right to portray this as new jobs NET, without delcaring the impact of high street job losses.
