Just got this, and it is hard to get the balance right with all the axis. In Arma, I notice when I lean, it zooms in, lean the other way, zooms out. I suppose it takes a good bit of time to get used to it, and adjust, but considering it isn't setup correctly, it's amazing.
Yeh, I just did that. Works great now. Though the FOV in ArmA is a little awkward, it's needed as head is put far back in ironsight mode. I am getting used to TrackIR now, and it does help with immersion and spacial awareness. Still, need time and study to calibrate. Thanks.
Make sure that zoom in the *ArmA* controls is set to the zoom axis of the TIR. You want to disable it in the *TrackIR* profile. If you do it the other way around, the view will become perma-zoomed-out.
Back on topic: I've been interested in TrackIR since I hear about it, but doesn't it ever get a little annoying if you're moving about while playing and you end up not looking where intended due to different seating position every time, etc.?
Oh, and I should probably take a hint, but we spoke on PM not so long ago, havent got a 2nd reply back from you =P
Hmm I hate to be off topic Dslyecxi, but how do you turn so smoothly with the Ah-1 Littlebird? I'm a big fan of Operation Flashpoint, and I just recently got ArmA and i'm finding the new controls a little tricky to pick up, so if you have any tips for me concerning flying, im all ears.
i need to work on my arma settings, i get choppy framerates on most settings medium and above, and im using a 8800 gts 640mb, a dual core 2.3 ghz cpu and 3 gigs of ram. :/
Nice video, i've always wanted trackIR since I first saw it in your first video of this series.
Hopefully i'll get around to buying one soon when I have a bit more money. It looks like a great investment, especially with ArmA2 and OPflash2 (if it's going to use it) on the way.
Wow your a great pilot Dslyecxi! (Atleast I thought you were...7:51! Learn to fly! :P) Nice framerate too! You run ArmA like at whats looks like 200 FPS, lol...What are your comp specs? I would really like to know :P
Hey, if it's an impact that doesn't kill the engine, you're still doing pretty decent. :)
I may post the "first take" footage sometime (without picture-in-picture) because there was quite a lot of cool stuff that happened in it that I didn't do in this one. We'll see.
My system is: 2.4GHz Core2Duo, 2GB PC2-6400 RAM, ATi 4870 (recent upgrade), etc.

I keep the zoom turned off - I find it to be better that way. Try that out and see how you like it, might enjoy it that way more.

There's a center button you can press to recenter it if need be. It's not intrusive at all in that respect.
As to your PM, I've been busy lately. I'll reply to it when I have a bit more time.

Ah I see, understable.
TrackIR looks very interesting, I don't have any spare money though so, for now I'll just have to hear what others have to say about it =P

Make sure you learn & use the rudder - that'll help smooth out your turns and other maneuvers.

Great flying & neat equipment you've got there! A random question: how many of you ShackTac folk are there altogether?

About 120 or so.
