To get the quality of a film in digital format, my Video Production teacher says you need a camera shooting 4k... 5k has to be RED EPIC! A shame Canon EOS C300 does only record up to 4k...

@pojoman7 - From what I've read, Frodo appears in scenes that take place long after the Hobbit story, as in he is either reading the story in Bilbo's book, or being told the story. I'm not sure why that is necessarily, but at least we don't have to worry about him being shoe-horned into Bilbo's actual adventure.

@MartinBlass At full 5k and maximum fps (96fps) it records 225MB/s. So if the card have 128GB=131 072MB, then 131072/225=582,54222, so 582,54222/60 (because 60 seconds is one minute) = 9,7 minutes. Something around 10 minutes with framerate 48fps.
Because I have astigmatisms in each eye - a birth defect if you like - seeing 3-D films tends to give me migraine headaches for at least 24 hours after. A lot of people have this eye defect, so 3-D films can be a nuisance for us. I'm hoping the 48 frames per second filming process alleviates this a bit. Otherwise, I'm going to have to see the 2-D version, which would be a shame. Many films don't need to be in 3-D, but Hobbit would certainly be an exception.
@HoobaNooba Winter just ended in New Zealand, and it's now spring, so they are heading out on location for a few months now to film. There will be plenty of location shots, don't worry.
