My first private institution position was denied me based on my skin color (they needed more ethnicity).

My film school was a never ending self congratulatory consortium of liberal beliefs to the total ignoring or scorning of my own.

I have had to endure mandatory 'adjustment' course dealing with how my ethnicity, beliefs and country of origin are responsible for all the evil in the world.

Even at my church I am singled out as a safely assumed moron because my family is conservative.

  • I've never had any of those problems. I keep hoping we are past the age of affirmative action - that seems to be the case and so much the better. I have always believed that affirmative action was meant to be temporary, meant only to break down the existing social and conventional wisdom barriers. As much as you should blame liberals for affirmative action, you should blame racists for making such a detestable program necessary.

  • It's amusing to listen to your sardonic laughter about the one station on earth that is actually conservative, fair or balanced or not being non objective somehow excusing the entirety of the network following suit.

This is akin to child saying 'You started it!'

    Amusing indeed.

  • Indeed. They have done numerous studies and found some not so surprising results. Fox News Channel viewers were the most misinformed. Comedy Channel viewers were the BEST informed. If we can forget about so-called bias and complain about MISINFORMATION, then at least we have something objective to discuss here. Does Fox news intentionally misinform viewers or are misinformed viewers just attracted to Fox. Does it matter?

  • Could it be because those studies were done by liberally inclined professors, patently ignoring the facts in favor of furthering a political agenda?

Do misinformed people receive their information from rigged statistics, or do they not care because these statistics support their views?

  • You wish. How much simpler it must seem now that you have no objective basis for evaluating reality. Everything must seem either liberal or conservative to you. What you fail to understand is that while conservatives need to look at the world from a certain perspective, liberals look at the world through many different perspectives. All too often what you mean by liberal is NOT STRICTLY CONSERVATIVE. Take a good look at your party and you will see it is true.

  • No objective view of reality? That sounds like the moral relativism that has been forced on society for a good many years. Maybe it's a coincidence, but most of those in favor of it are of a liberal persuasion, here defined as hating all things conservative, desiring higher taxes, hating their country, and less interested in human then animal life. Self proclaimed liberals I might add.

Liberal for the longest time to me meant: people who hate my family and I. I'm not fond of that sort.

  • Are you trying to say anything constructive here or are you just venting? I say that because I don't hate your family, at least not yet.

  • Go back a few comments where you say 'you don't know shit' if you'd like to see venting in action.

I'm trying to explain how liberalism has affected my life. You may consider how wonder the tenants of liberalism sound on paper, but when you live through them it's an entire other story. Also I'd like you to consider the fact that liberals are far from evenhanded or blameless entities, just so the next time you want to call the kettle black you give yourself pause.

  • How liberalism has affected your life? Tell me how "liberalism" has affected your life. I bet half of it is made out of bullshit by Rush Limbaugh.

  • Never heard the man.

I could go into the details of my entire indoctrinated childhood, but I'll just provide the details.

In kindergarten I was suspended for calling a kid 'black' (it was the color of his skin, he called himself that, I was actually beaten for calling him the same.)

In high school I was beaten and scorned and ignored and lampooned for my belief in Christianity and American patriotism, by teacher and student alike.

In college I was called out as an example of hated 'conservatism'

  • Actually it was William Hearst fighting it out with Pulitzer. That's where it started and nothing has changed since. One hundred years worth and counting. There's no un-biased news Dude. There probably never has been; weather excluded. Propaganda and advertising. Scare people and get them to buy stuff.

  • Thanks for good video.Very informative for a Swede.Yes these channels is here to,but i must say our non-commercial puplic channel,is very, very good and both broad and deep i think. And not runned by state. But Italy have even worse sitution then you.Berlusconi controll almost all media

and runs the country that way.But The Real News channel seem to rather good what i seen. But "Gresham Law"(bad coin drive out good ones),seem to be applied to Media to it seems.Sorry to say.

  • All the networks have a right wing bias. Not just Faux. they are just the worst. They are all giant corporate institutions.

NBC is owned by GE. CBS is owned by Westinghouse, ABC by Disney. Does anyone really think that they don't promote what is good for their own corporate bottom line? The only left leaning News channels are "FSTV" and "Link TV" Both which carry "Democracy Now!" Sure Olbermann is good, but have you seen "The Morning Joe"? Its just like Faux or worse.

  • BTW Fox didn't start it. Fox tried to counterbalance all of the other channels on one, and so it was more intense. However, the other channels started it a long time ago, long before Fox was even around.

  • Nobody pretends that the media is unbiased. Fox has a right-wing bias and CNN and MSNBC have a left-wing bias. However in the past all these networks would limit how much of their bias they would inject to at least maintain the pretense that they were unbiased. This would moderate the bias a bit. The trouble is that CNN and MSNBC don't seem to be trying to even pretend anymore. Once they take the gloves off it's basically a propaganda free-for-all.

  • You're hilarious.

  • The media is always an interesting topic.

The American media began to decline after the Vietnam War, where more irrelevant, feel good "light news" began to be presented. Yes, we can pretty much thank Fox News for setting the precedent of abandoning objectivity in television news.

I have no problem with Fox, MSNBC, or CNN providing one-sided, opinion based news coverage. The problem is that they manipulate consumers into believing their coverage is impartial.

  • you mean there are people still around that think fox news is objective? weeeird. i don't mind that there is an overtly conservative news source, what really bothers me is their constant claim of "fair & balanced coverage". it must be the most repeated lie of all time. though i enjoy shep smith's occasional stray into justice..
