  • Gosh I love this song! It makes me really happy but I feel as though Im going to cry. Ive recently bought a fiddle and I soon plan to learn this, thanks for the great video :D

  • Thanks Ian.

How do you use the bow to get the drone with the other notes coming clear through?

  • ugh u hold the bow so weird (im a classical guy)

  • @blackhawk2055 that is a "baroque" bow hold ole' buddy! But --- it is peculiar to old timey fimey fiddlers......

  • @blackhawk2055 haha your a long way from classical ;) haha but personally I think for fiddlers it usually comes down to what feels good and what feels right, I like to hold my bow around the same spot a him, maybe a little lower, I find it helps me sounds for fluent and percises.

  • man your a savage fiddler. triplets and rolls are crystal clear. excellent stuff

  • This is just a sample of the lessons. Unfortunately, you have to buy the lessons, at online lesson videos . com

I wish that you didn't have to pay.

Ian is such a great teacher!

  • this is amazing! i am in love with this song, and you are such a great teacher! but how do i view the rest?????? please please tell me!!!!

  • its a lovely irish reel and not scottish? written by to good friends of nine back in the early 70s george furey and davey arthur while on tour in germany.....

  • Question why do you hold your bow differently with a fiddle then a violin

  • You don't, really.

I guess he just prefers to hold it like that. My guess whould be it adds a little more stabelity.

  • My rolls don't sound like his rolls!

    How does it work?

  • @darksensesx7 Practice.

  • they're trebles / bowed triplets. Not rolls. Go listen to Tommy Peoples until your ears bleed.

  • he holds his bow rather odd BUT HES GREAT!

  • Its not an irish tune. It's a traditional scottish reel, based on scottish folklore.
