seen that shit a few weeks ago coming from sun peaks into vancouver, appparently they all end up at Dick's Lumber at the corner of Gilmore and Still Creek Blvd, i thought it was a for sure sign of an earthquake or tsunami about to hit hahah, freaked us all out, may have been the ganj too tho
@patshmear10101 now now. there wasn't any need for that. And not just the language. That was six months ago, probably forgotten and finished by now. Just like the comment I'm responding to to tell you this- you probably don't even remember posting it. There's really no point after the first month. And you only still see it because not a lot of people have commented. All you're doing, and I myself am no better at the moment, is filling up the comments section with unneeded drama.
Some birds flock together (generally 'birds of a feather"), like crows and starlings. Some birds don't, like eagles and great blue herons. Differences make the world go round.
The answer is in my recent video, Crows in Burnaby, the notes on the side (more) give the details. You are aware of them now because the afternoon commute coincides with sundown. As that gets later, and later over the next few months, the crow flocks will be later, after the commute is over.
They are Northwestern Crows, Corvus Caurinus. They are no different from the American Crow found east of the Rockies, just a separate population. In winter, all the crows from the whole Metro Vancouver area roost in the same central location. In the Spring, the mating pairs build nests and raise young all over the region, while only the young and old continue the daily migration. But in the fall all the crows join the flocks that make the daily flight to and from the roost.

@MoeRiss We don't need a solution. The crows are one of my favourite things about this city.

I wonder why they gather up like that. I saw recently a shit load gathered in a group of trees. It was so freaking noisy.

I see them every day on my commute home - where is their end goal (for the night)? Is it Burnaby Lake?

Northwestern crows have a Cascadia accent.

I sounds more like a combination of Punjabi and Cantonese to me. Maybe that is, (or will be) the Cascadia accent.
