I remember reading about the Bay to Breakers Race in Runners World when I was in high school. I always wanted to run in it, but now it just looks like such a crowd that it would be too much of a hassle!!! Interesting video just the same!!!
The runners competing start at the head of the pack and don't deal with the crowds. Historically this race boosted the morale of SF after the 1906 earthquake so it functions as a festive communal march from the Bay to the Ocean Beach Breakers. In that sense it's not a traditional marathon but world class runners compete up front ending the race well ahead of the other 65,000 other people taking part. Saying it's a hassle is like saying Mardi Gras is too crowded. :)
bay to breakers is the best time ever.. i will be going for the rest of my life as long as i can.. oh yeah i like to run naked too

Good video. I remember when I did this with my mom almost 10 years ago when I was 15, wow, I had so much fun with just me and my mom. Good times.

You can start and stop anytime, we started at Alamo Square around 10am and walked to Golden Gate Park only.
