  • Thats cool!

  • Nice catch!

  • awesome nice catch

  • nice!

  • Well he was going much faster than P&W normally goes, but light power is allowed to go 50MPH down the corridor. I'm surprised he didn't have a road slug with him.

  • Coo good job

  • OMG You are so lucky that you saw a P&W locomotive at Canton Junction! Ive been to Canton Junction over 80 times and have never seen any other freight than a CSX train. Great catch 5***** and a fav!

  • The Amtrak I saw maybe 30 seconds before was even weirder. I have lived near the NEC my whole life (and on it for the last couple years....tracks run through my back yard) and have NEVER seen any Genesis, let alone two on it. He also had a baggage car and maybe 5 cars like what they use on the Downeaster (dunno what they're called), all blacked out, so I'm guessing it was an equipment move. I took a pic of it, but it was long exposure so you can't make anything out.

  • @freddielololol What time did the Amtrak go through? Baggage car, five other coaches, Genesis locos, sounds like 67

  • @zink444 It's definitely an equipment move, I've caught it a few times since then, Last time it was two Genesis and an HHP8 with like 6 coaches all blacked out. My photo says it was from around 8pm, but I think last time I caught it it was closer to 10.

I also got something weird a couple weeks ago. Acela running close to or at full speed, northbound, but on the southbound track. That was around 3pm on a Saturday....totally caught me off guard.

  • I do know the MBTA had 2 P&W units on loan, this being one of them if I remember correctly, for switching at BET and to run on the work train. I'm guessing they were bringing it back to Providence, either because they're done with it or for P&W to service it.

  • That's very interesting i wonder why they didn't use CSX or the MBCR yard switcher?

  • railroad (.) net has a topic on it.....They were initially borrowed for use on the power wash train and rail welding train but ended up being kept around because of problems with MBTAs work train and switching locomotives. Apparently now they have two of them back up, so the P&W units have been returned. P&W 2216 went back in Jan, 2201 went back the other night when I caught it.

  • Actually, scratch that last comment, thats what happens when you scan through things. 2216 was having issues (went up in smoke one morning) so it got sent back to Providence and replaced by 2201.
