This was the first game I ever played, as a kid, where I sat in front of the system and played it for 8 hours straight. I remember getting a NintendoPower magazine a long time ago with foldout full-color pictures of cities built by artists who used the city maps to create amazing looking cities. There were also Sim City 2000 cities built in the same manner (another game that I played almost non-stop on my old Mac).
XD I feel so old. I was like...6-ish when this game came out. Now I'm 25 and it just takes me back to a time way before we had Gamefaqs and had to wait for Nintendo Power....and Saturdays were all about sitting down and gaming with titles like this one!
I have all the music from this game except for the piece of music that plays when you have to do the taxes at the end of the year.....anyone know where I can get that from please?
Ah, the nuclear meltdown scenario. I always used to try to find and bulldoze the power plants before they melted down. Sure I pulled it off once or twice. Loved this game, but could never make it to megalopolis. I wonder why this is the only Sim City to really simulate the seasons changing...
Man this brings me back. Sim City for the SNES had some of the most memorable music ever. I also loved how the music got more "busy" as your town grew larger and larger. It is a simple concept but they just really nailed it with the best songs possible.
The one song you probably heard was when Dr. Wright came on to tell you that your city is doing fine and all that, the music was also in the Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening! FinalGamerJames I hope thats what you heard! Pretty Sweet!
Great game! I used to play it for hours... A few times I managed it to hear the megalopolis-music at a huge map and with a well planned and tight constructed city (dougnut-system). It was f****** hard and tooks as I remember well several weeks.
Nice tunes, makes me thing of Earthbound. I've played the PC version a few times, but it really wasn't my thing. It was funny to see when tornadoes came through & just trashed the place. Oh noes!
Hmmm thats a shame i didnt hear the tune i thought i remembered. I used to love playing this game, it would draw me into a trance for hours on end. I seem to recall a very dreamlike tune, but i never heard it here.

@GoodGamesrlikemovies I'm with you here...this game brings me back..just for the music (especially early levels)... God I loved this game...so much... Freakin' godzilla and tornadoes messin' up the place...
Has anyone tried to beat the Boston scenario by pausing the game, destroying the nuclear plant, and then unpausing it? I have, and it actually works.

For all the people who are asking for the music in certain parts of the game. Go on amazon, buy a SNES, and buy sim city.

@leexcore1 There's also emulation.

@timhomer2009 True, true. But that just doesn't do it for me. There's just something about blowing into those old cartridges..

God I adore this soundtrack! Another game me and my dad used to play all the time.
So many people overlook this soundtrack on the SNES, personally I think it's one of the top 5 on the system.
