I doubt any strength coaches would disagree with that. The way around it is to use dumbells or to use a slight angle of incline or decline.

@cozoner You reduce the range of motion. Most people have to much range of motion when benching and that can cause you to do damage to your elbows, etc. if you do not have perfect form. When you arch your back it allows you to press with a lot more power as well.

5:12 the glory of power lifting. All he did was put his feet on the bench, tighten up, and then put them down and he already has to catch his breath. I recently got back into lifting, but when I think off all of the actual power lifters I was around when I was a teen, my uncle and his friends, I just cant consider it a sport.
