Hard to imagine that this was the kind of junk Brymon Airways inaugerated into London City Arport. Just look at the types flying in and out of there now, almost an all jet fleet thank god.
@rodjames98 Yeah, its quite a change seeing all the jets there nowadays in comparison to the early days at LCY ! I remember there was an airline called London City Airways who also flew the Dash-7 out of LCY around the same time as Brymon, don't think they lasted long though.
@flyingboats21 Yes they were a division of British Midland Airways, and no they did'nt last too long. I think that LCY learned the hard way that you cannot design an airport around one particular aircraft! These days its not unusual to see airbus A318/319. and even Embraer 190 jets as regular visitors in there.
@TheMarkOfTheBeast1 Yes I have heard of the BombardierQ400, and the ATR 42/72, and the De havilland twin otter,Advanced turboprop, F27, FH227 even, wanna go further back? Vickers viscount, Handley page herald, Hs 748, Vickers vanguard, as well. My point is that the aircraft looked ungainly especially such a small airframe boasting 4 engines, and if you know London city today, you will know that some very interesting types are now utilising it, inconceivable 20 years ago, thats my point.
@AnnaMayWongSociety Really? they now have Airbus 319's & Embraer 195's as well as a few other types. This old bird now looks positively decrepit . But thats just my view and you have your own I guess!
@rodjames98 this is called city boy syndrome. The plane is not the problem, your would be kissing it's props if you were where tar and cement hasn't buried mother earth. The plane was designed for a reason called STOL and if your airlines want to use a Land Rover where a Jag is more suited, that does not make the aircraft decrepit, it is the best STOL in the world.
@AnnaMayWongSociety oh ho oh! thats cheeky ! I know where you are coming from with the DHC-7 it was a good performer in confined spaces but if you know London city? and I don't know if you do ? the airport has grown up if you like, and nowadays for the travelling public to use a city airport and fly in this type will make passengers sigh! it just doesn't look right there anymore, but take your point about short spaces.

@rodjames98
Such an ignorant comment. Turboprops are not "junk".
Ever heard of the Bombardier Q400? It's a terrific aircraft, in every sense. Look it up.
