When there is no snow, the trail starts at Mahogany Flat - just a little past the kilns. Coming from San Diego, I recommend you camp at Mahogany Flat the night before. Get an early start the next morning. You can drive home that night, but it will be a tiring. I have not hiked San Gorgonio. Telescope Peak is awesome in my opinion. Nowhere else do you get great views of the Sierra and Death Valley.
Great pictures, also saw the ones from 07. Thats a climb I have long wanted to do. Can you comment on difficulty and the length of time (assuming no snow) to complete up and back? Nice to hear from someone who has actually made the trip. Thanks a lot. TC.
The only difficulty is the length (14 miles round trip) and altitude (11,000 ft). Otherwise the trail is in good shape with no serious hazards - assuming no snow. I would say an average round-trip time is 8 to 9 hours.

Yes, same day. We were the first of two groups to make it to the top that day. My coldest hike ever! Thanks for looking.
