  • I found all his DVD excellent! This particular one, though, more than the others, requires a student to be somewhat advance in theory. Moreover, it expected you to know a thing or two about jazz music, and jazz harmony. Only then you will truly enjoy this lesson. If you never played and improvised over jazz progressions before it could be harder. I personally, really love it and thks to Paul, I learned a lot!

  • He is one of the legends! Wait till later to you see and hear what Paul grows into. He's not even greased up yet. He might become one of the worlds top guitar players in his class, if not already.

Thank for posting this. Put some more up!

    Keep On Picking!

  • cool : )

  • dude I love your music and your a fellow canadian which makes it so much cooler. I'm buying your dvd online right now.

  • I've got his Rockabilly and Travis picking DVD's. Incredible instruction and an awesome player. Will have to get this one too!

  • Paul is f***in' great! Got 3 of his DVD's...Picked up some stuff from each that I can use at shows...and I play 4 or 5 times a week. But as far as his Jazzin' DVD...he talks about major & minor scales & arpeggios...then there's a little break & he comes back and say's, "OK, now that you have all your scale's down...let's move on..." not that it's bad...it's just kind-a funny...you'd have to practice yer butt off for a few months...not frustrating though...just eye opening....thanks Paul...

  • Lots of times I'll buy an instructional video more wishing that I could play like that than actually thinking I was ready for it. When I'm on level 3 and buy a level 1,256 instruction video, it's a challenge not to just lay the blame on the video being too confusing, hard to understand, they teacher just playing over my head - all of which was true for me at that time. I just wasn't ready for that level of instruction.

  • I have this same DVD and it's brilliant! Paul is an awesome teacher. I think it would help if there was an actual paper note inside explaining that the PDFs of the TABs were included. A lot of folks don't know that....

  • Hello Mr Pigat,

Excellent playing If I may say so. This to me is kind of what Jazz style guitar should be like rather than the 'old duffer' stuff that makes me fall asleep ! No offence intended to anyone there but ... well that's just my taste ! Also, is that an ES 350 you're playing ? I would like one of these, too ! Are the pup's on it original ? Thanks and Good Luck - EB.

  • That guy's the best...!

  • .... wahnsinn! ... :) ...

  • Hey, this dvd is cool.

Got it last week and started studying. I'm still on lesson one, learning the G6 arpeggios in all positions along with alternate chord fingerings so that I have a movable set of chords/ arpeggios for all keys.

One question though. First chord pattern introduced does not have any 6 chords in it. When are we supposed to apply the G6 or an 6-chord arpeggios. Sorry for the ignorance--is the 6 chord supposed to be used over any straight maj triad??

    Thanks and nice job.

  • Wow! Next time I want to noodle around with old tunes from the 1940's I am definitely going to spend 4 or 5 hours learning THIS...!

  • Is that cameraman drunk?

  • @musiccalgary S'matter? a little too relevant for you? Whoops - I just noticed you're from calgary. That would explain it. Sorry to put you on the spot - you know, asking questions and everything.

  • @Sointula2 Yes, well said, no one from Calgary is capable of parsing your greatness. Thanks for shopping it anyhow, move along now...

  • Does this DVD come with the tab for this segment?

If so, I will but the DVD today.

  • Fantastic, as usual, Paul! We Gretsch players are thrilled to have you on our team!

  • i just got this dvd, and he is very informative, and it worked great for me. it's definetly for an advanced player though, you will need some theory experience, and know your basic scales, and like he says numerous times in the video, a good chord book and good scale book would help any player tremendously. A really good book that i found and used is The Guitar Grimoire (scales and modes). put me light years ahead of where i was prior to reading it and applying it.

  • fantastic!!

  • i know what im getting next paycheck

  • @DocHelliday a haircut?

  • now the DVD that in the video you commenting on lol

    already gots my haircut

  • Brilliant guitarist. No doubt about that. The dvd?I found it frustrating. So much so it makes one want to just put the guitar down.

  • Could you explain how it was frustrating? Was the pacing too fast - too slow, camera work wrong, assumes too much prior knowledge / too little, irrelevant content, ??? We're a small company (two guys plus the various teachers) so feedback is always appreciated. Please send an email if you would.

  • sorry you found the dvd frusterating hammill444. I tred to go as slow as possible but as its an advanced dvd it can get a bit challenging to get all the ideas across within the time allotted. if you'd like some pointers feel free to go to the cousin harley website and email me directly and I'd be more than happy to give you a hand!

  • @cousinharleyb

Very nice touch ...just learning about your work today!

(from the Bigsby site actually ... keep up the great work)

  • @hammill444 dude...that's what it's all about....not putting it down...don't give up..ever...
