owing to the fact that we never saw what really happened to him, there's a strong possibility that he might pop up somewhere later on. (Maybe jean stopped herself in time or managed to put him back together and too ashamed of herself and what she almost did she erased his memory and sent him away... it would be cool to have to amnesiacs on the show...lol)... well, anything can happen

@LostShadow901 They did it because the actor James Marsden couldnt be stay long in the movie because of he was in Super Man Returns and Fox thought it would emotion which to me is a B.S way of just being cheap as hell. To me Cyclops died so the producers could make more money in a cheap way of adding emotion which in the end got bad reviews anyway because of lack in emotion so Cyclops died for nothing. But LONG LIVE CYCLOPS AT LEAST HE DIDNT DIE IN THE COMICS.

@TheElectron504 Yeas I was looking in comics as well if they took an inspiration of his death from somwehere or of the Animated series the Pheonix Saga but really he doesn;t die anywhere. When I younger Cyclops for me was more powerfull then Volverine,and he had a very mysteriuous character which could have been really great in a movie but instead they just had to much actors playing and they forgot about him and for god they killed him.

I only wish Cyclops put up more of a fight against Lady Deathstrike before being taken prisoner along with Xavier in X-2. As for the third movie, Cyclops should have been the protagonist but for whatever reason, the filmmakers decided to kill off Cyclops, take away his role in the Dark Phoenix Saga and give it to Wolverine. As if he didn't have enough time onscreen already.

Cyclops has always been among my favourite characters in the comic books and cartoons. I thought James Marsden did a remarkable job with what he had to work with but given the character's history in the X-Men universe, he deserved more screentime. The first movie treated Cyclops fairly enough as he was the one who fended off Sabretooth and rescued both Logan and Rogue and in the film's climax, blasted Sabretooth out of the statue of liberty before taking out Magneto.

Despite getting a good actor for the role, the movies never showed the true Scott Summers. They instead made Wolverine into a type of hero he's not.

Before you judge a character, go back to the original source. There's a reason why the comic book fans hated the third movie. Jean's and Cyclop's characters were made into something they weren't, and as icing on the cake they gave Wolverine Cyclop's tragedy and had Scott die a lame death.

Man, I'm a huge Cyclops fan, so this was great to watch. Awesome stuff.

He got a fair go in the films. He was portrayed as a good leader in X1, and kicked some serious ass in X2, but was always 2nd to Wolverine.

The original X-Man! The mainstay for the team!

James Marsden was really good in the role with what they gave him, and even made an impact in X3.
