  • Great video... read a lot about it, but great to see it. A friend was having problems with his, so I'll see if this helps.

  • Great help! Thank you! I replaced the reservoir and badda bing badda boom! No more hard steering!

  • I wish you would have included the sound of the noise for comparison.. I'd hate to go through the trouble to discover that my issue wasn't the power steering reservoir. Did it almost sounds like a rope rapidly pulled through a pulley and the rapid clicking or cranking of a gear spun in the wrong direction? It's easier to hear a sound than to describe it.

  • Thanks from Russian Chrysler Club!!!

  • Thank you for this video. I have a 2006 Caravan and in the owner's manual it says to fill the Power Steering Reservoir with Mopar ATF+4 Automatic Transmission Fluid. Has anyone else used this fluid or what type of Power Steering Fluid do you use. Thank you all.

  • I have a 2007 dodge grand caravan, same problem. Especially when its cold out it makes a noise on start up then stops after 3 or 4 seconds. Then its good after that. The bigger problem I was having that it was popping a power steering hose off underneath that was attached to a power steering cooler. The people that owned it before me bypassed the cooler. So when its cold out, the hose pops off underneath when I start it up.

  • @jason420jason I am hoping that installing a new reservoir will fix the problem of the hose popping off under neath as well. Maybe I should change the hoses to. Would a dirty reservoir cause that hose to pop off under neath?

  • This worked great on my 2004 Town and Country 3.8L. Thanks...

  • I have a 2006 with 100,000 miles. I just did this reservoir and my problem is fixed! I have had this problem since about 60,000 miles. Thank you!

  • i just have a last question cuz the Prestone power steering fluid i used wasn't the light red color as usual it was a clear oil is that workable or not??

  • Thanks for the video .. I didn't change the reservoir but i changed the power steering fluid through disconnecting the return hose and let it discharge into a tank while pouring new fluid into the reservoir as the engine is running ..then reconnected the hose and adjusted the fluid level to full ...now it's working great .. and the noise is totally gone and the vehicle is smooth again thank God

  • Drew: Thanks!

  • I'm guessing this is what causes the whirring sound in my 07 T+C with 147,000 miles. The sound is fairly constant at idle and changes when I turn the wheel to the left or right. One question: Is the procedure and the part for the 3.3 pretty similar to the 3.8 in your video?

  • @lcar4000 Hello yes it should be the same part

  • This was very helpful. We just had the reservoir replaced but now there seems to be a problem with the pressure hose. Doesn't look to be a leak at the clamps. We were hoping to see a video how to replace the power steering pressure hose for the 2004 Chrysler Town and Country Van as this was the part that we were told needed replacing now.

  • @juleboole have not done that part yet, but i will have to look on Y-tube has to have a vid on how to do it. should not be to hard. from the reservoir to the power steering rack.

  • Thankyou, found this very informative. Sent it to my brother he's having this problem.

  • @FluffyBunny1974 U welcome.

  • :(

  • Nice, this worked perfectly...thanks! One question, when you purged the system with the return line off of the reservoir, how did you keep the new fluid from running out of the side of the reservoir when you filled it up with new fluid?

  • @bigbillyvegas Good question, i don't think i included that in my vid. I think i plugged that hole up.

  • @bigbillyvegas

Worked great for me too on 2006 Chrysler T&C. Cleaned first for temp relief then changed res. w/filter. Sure cheaper than new rack & pinion & whatever else the mechanic could sell. THANKS A LOT!

    L.STEVE

  • Nice, this worked perfectly...thanks!

  • @bigbillyvegas U welcome.. glade to help and save money.

  • I have to change out my reservoir for my 2006 T&C also. In your adventures to change it out, did you feel at any time it would have been possible or practical to clean the screen out?

  • @hammack319 yes, the next time i would probably just clean the screen out and reinstall in with all new fluid. BUT the new part was cheap and was already in the mail on the way.
