Anyone else hear this in the Harrison documentary and google the lyrics? That one line "It's funny how people just won't accept change" hit me hard and I had to hear the whole thing.
The instrumental piece in the middle of this song (1:10 - 2:12) is just PERFECT. It is so melancholy and purposeful - taking it's own sweet time as it moves from Nicky's piano solo into George's slide guitar solo. Yet another example of George's brilliance.
Jesus, Krishna, Allah... etc. doesn't matter, they are all one and the same as are we. The world is awakening please research the Venus Project and watch Zeitgeist Moving Forward 2011. We can create something better than this world. Peace.
Thanks very much for this upload! I guess it's one of the most beautiful 'light'-songs in the world. Don't we all need to see that light, especially when there are many sad things around us happening? Thank you George for keeping the light alive with your songs.
George, you rock so hard. Lmfao, I was recently introduced to your music when I was first become Krishna conscious and now I'm back on my path to Vrindavan even at my age of 16 with my spiritual growth excelling at an unbelievable rate... I still listen to you every day and all weekends with my same spiritual friends who introduced me to your music; one "retired" monk, one spiritual healer, my parents, and a few other close friends. My life has been flipped upside down. In a good way. Thanks :)
E se questa canzone apriva Let it be o Abbey Road? E' tipica di certe atmosfere ancora beatlsiane nell'essenza ma la dolce malia di Sir George non poteva essere capita all'epoca: nè dopo mi pare abbia riscontrato grandi consensi nel suo entourage.E resta una grande bella canzone.Grazie Sir George.
Jahnava!!! I know it seems "dark" right now...if you were me you would say this to me..."Look at the Light (Krsna) that has Lighted the World!! Jai Sri Krsna!! Hari Bol!! HARE KRSNA!!
There are not Christian references in his songs. Hinduism predates Christianity by nearly 2000 years, and much of Christian story telling evolved from Hinduism. I assume you think the "Light that has lighted the world" is the Christian reference, however, Hinduism long before Christianity portrayed symbolically victory of good over evil as the "light that has lighted the world" and celebrated Diwali, a significant holiday known as the festival of lights, since before Jesus "existed"
@subg88 No wonder the bible claims that Jesus always was and always will be. Those bible writers knew competing religions well and tried to counteract
Further - "Just as we celebrate the birth of our physical being, Dipavali is the celebration of this inner light, in particular the knowing of which outshines all darkness (removes all obstacles and dispels all ignorance), awakening the individual to one's true nature, not as the body, but as the unchanging, infinite, immanent and transcendent reality. With the realization of the Atman comes universal compassion, love, and the awareness of the oneness of all things (higher knowledge). "
Obviously, this is quite contrary to Christian thought. The idea that the source of "light" is the awakening of the individual resulting from transendence of the material world, compared to Christianity's view that Jesus is the source of light, and that by accepting Jesus as savior, transendence will be provided after death, these are completely incompatible theories.
Beautiful song, one of many great ones on the album. I think the album song, "Living in the..." falls in comparison to many of the other songs on the album, however.
What's yer first, best George album? Can I guess ATMPass?? I ask myself what's the best George album and in all honesty, every one is a piece of art. Best?: Extra Texture. The one I would let go if forced at gunpoint?: Cloud 9. Why? Jeff Lynne's souless production sound. Esp the percussion.
The light that lighted me - going back to my young years - was George. He inspired me in so many ways. And, even though I eventually came to have different views about the 'deeper meaning' of life, etc., George will always be in my heart, and of who (and where) I am today.
Me too. At the age of 13 I used to rush home from school during the lunch break just to put my Beatles/John/Paul/George/Ringo stuff on...OK, so my mates were into Slade and T Rex, so I got a bit of kudos by being the 'Battling Tops', 'Hot Wheels' and 'Subbuteo' champ!
the most spiritual of the beatles...sadly over shadowed by the brilliance of john and paul ..but georges songs take a back seat to none!!!...the quiet beatle said alot when he did speak or sing always a postive message!!!. rip george and john the world misses ya .the beatles are the best and no one can touch em ..beatle fans no what i mean , do we still love the fab four ...yeah yeah yeah !!
Amen Jaga tyvm for this video-I also favorited it! 5/5 (Might I suggest you do a few songs from his "Cloud Nine" album as well? It has good arrangements and some great guitar licks in it...)
Great song and very inspirational :)

For a Hindu he used a lot of Christian references in a lot of songs. Too bad he's not here to day.

He is probably where he needs to be.
