my aunt rescues greyhounds. just like the post below my neighbors abused their dog too.she ran away to my house everyday .she was my first rescue . i remember saying to them "if you dont want that dog i'll take it". pretty brazen for a teenager.she was 1 yr old with rotted teeth and no meat on her. they beat their dogs with shovels .i have her still shes 9 now .i just posted a new video of my rescue babies.shes on there too.check it out if you like.keep spreading the word on rescue/adoption.
I have childhood memories of my neighbours dog that I believe was an abused dog I use to steal and sneak into my room at night feed him and bathe his sores. For many months i would do this and then when one night i went to get him i remember him crying and then a big yelp i knew he was gone i cried for months on end now i have made a resolve to get a greyhound and give him the life i couldn't to my old friend rainbow xxx
Horrible those gentle dogs are treated like that. No animal deserves such a life just for money. Ban dog racing. All animals should be treated with love and care and protected from fear, stress and pain.
once a athlete falls, they are discarded. We see this in the human society as well. But the people making money from these animals are all rotten, your family and friends should do the same to you when they have no more use of you. Dogs give you all their trust and love, and will do anything to please you and make you proud. Very much like humans, so treat them as your brother/sister or child because they see you as their only family

I am getting one from a greyhound rescue this week. He is retired and almost 8 years old. They are full of grace. Hope stuff like this doesn't happen very often.

Cruel. My friend has an ex-racer that she rescued from the pound. He was left to die. When Zachi (the dog) got to his new house, he was terrified. He wasn't used to any other surface than as-fault. Also, he wasn't used to being out of a small cage. Pray for him. ;(
@MrLaurenRaulph Actually not letting greyhound to run is one of the worst kind of abusement you can do to them. Greyhounds love to run and if they are fit for raceing, then what is better exercise for them?
I agree that racing unfit greyhounds is sick, but healthy and young greyhound should be let to run as much as they like somewhere to keep them healthy, food and love isn't all that keeps them healthy, they do need alot of exercise too
i have greyhounds and race them i know that when they get put down at the races it is through a normal vet needle but away from the track putting them down is completely up to the owner but all the greyhounds i know of get put down at a vet. Also the kennels at the tracks i go to are daily cleaned big and there is enough in there for each dog to have one to itself and extras for if any trials need to be done. I myself love greyhounds and i cant believe peeps would treat them so horrifically.

I have just adopted my retired racing greyhound, Hank. A beautiful, loveable brindle boy, who is very sweet and caring. Wonderful with my two boys, aged 8 and 4. this is sickening me. When I was ten, I watched dog race at the track once. I thought greyhounds were such magnificent, truly beautiful creatures and they must be treated like royalty since they were racers (like shamu at seaworld). As I grow up and learn the cruel fact behind the race track, I can't help but feel so angry. I hope that one day I would be lucky enough to be adopted by one of these beauties.

Its hard to get greyhounds rehomed because of the reputation humans give to them. How can anyone look in the eyes of not only these wonderful dogs but any animal and do these awful things.

This is not a greyhound issue - this is a people issue and the lack of the enforcement of laws to prevent people like this from ever owning an animal. I have at least 100 greyhounds on my property at a time and NEVER have I ever seen animals in that condition and if I did, the person who brought them to me would be reported straight away. This is neglect and indicative of the person who owned them. Absolutely disgusting. I hope the people who owned any of those dogs rots in hell.
I have three rescued greys :) (hopefully a fourth to be added in the next few weeks) and I know all about the horrors of what these dogs have to go through - at the minute there is a beautiful little girl up for adoption who when she came to the kennels had to had her nose remade as some dickhead trainer thought that instead of having her adopted or put down - he was going to do it himself with a spade. Poor little girl was so terrified of men it's taken months for her to be ready for adoption

The dogs in this clip are greyhounds, victims of the racing industry. A govt committee estimated that in order to feed the British racing industry alone about 12,000 greyhounds go missing between being earmarked at 3 months and registered for racing a year plus later because they are not up to the job. Then there are the thousands who disappear after racing when they are no longer money making units! Just a few of them in this clip........

Greyhounds are amazing dogs. This video is very painful to watch. There seems to be some hope, as there some kind folks who organizes adoption programs, many volunteers helping to bring these ex-racers in, many more kind folks also provide foster homes for them before they can be adopted.

man i miss my greyounds, lady was abused because she couldnt race cause of a disease that caused her toenails to fall off she was stuffed in a cage and hosed down she was afraid of everything even flies but most of all humans...allie on the otherhand was treated like a god because she was such a good racer...animals are like humans they just cant help themselves with things like that, some people r fast some people r slow just like dogs...may u girls R.I.P :'(
as a person who owns greyhounds and loves them to death people who do this to this beautiful animals should be shot. seeing these images made me cry because i could not possibly think of someone doing these things. they are such loving animals, that is why we try to rehome our retired greyhounds, and thankfully most of them have found absolutly loving homes.

they absolutely LOVE kids, and their biggest joy in life in snuggling up on the couch for a cuddle.
NO animal deserves the kind of treatment racing dogs get, and its even worse that it happens to a breed, that by nature, are so laid back, and loving.
they have one of the best temperaments ive ever seen.
i do a good bit of hunting n have lurchers n the likes n my dad had greygounds but any man or woman that could inflict that kinda of cruelty on a dog does not deserve ta even breath its given people like me that actually respect their dogs by feeding them n generally taking care of em a very bad name!!!!

I'm not defending racing but not all of these pictures are racing greyhounds. Several are galgos from Spain, a cousin to the greyhound. They are used by hunters and then cruelly disposed of. Such as hanging them from trees and throwing them in wells.
I would love to take the people who do this sort of thing to ANY animal and shoot them between the eyes, then string them up in public as a warning to any "would be" abusers.
I adopted a Greyhound 3 years ago and it was the best thing i have ever done! She is sooo amazing! If you can afford to adopt one, DO IT! You wont regret it. They can love you like no other. My greyhound finally learned how to play with a toy this year, my 1 year old niece taught her and it was such a happy moment when she figured it out. She is great. They need your help! I am trying to adopt another!!!
The sad fact is that most greyhounds found like this are rescued from abusive adoptive homes or are "coyote greyhounds" bred by people only to hunt wild animals.
Racing owners cannot let their dogs get into this kind of condition because they cannot race like that!
How could people do this to innocent greyhounds? I hate anyone who does this very cruel thing. I want those cruel people to have a VERY SCARY nightmare where THEY'RE the greyhounds and people are beating them up again and again in many different ways, and no matter how they wanna wake up, they can't, and this nightmare will feel like it lasted for YEARS! >:(

I seen your comment about the Greyhounds.If you can afford to adopt one do it.I promise you wont regret it.I adopted one 3 years ago.This year she finally figured out how to play toys and it was such a wonderful sight!I cried so hard because i had finally broke the barrier she had up.The reason they are abused is because one they lost a race or two they are getting old & not doing good jobs.Orchid my greyhound has scars for some reason but i have given her enough love to cover them up.

this is sickening me. When I was ten, I watched dog race at the track once. I thought greyhounds were such magnificent, truly beautiful creatures and they must be treated like royalty since they were racers (like shamu at seaworld). As I grow up and learn the cruel fact behind the race track, I can't help but feel so angry. I hope that one day I would be lucky enough to be adopted by one of these beauties.

Its hard to get greyhounds rehomed because of the reputation humans give to them. How can anyone look in the eyes of not only these wonderful dogs but any animal and do these awful things.

i just do not get it, i really do not. i have a greyhound and i got him from the track in my state. i just do not even wont too think about the shit this poor old man had too go and be put threw makes me sick to even think of it. thank god the ladys at the track i got him from came to his side. he is 9 years old and my first greyhound, and the love of my life my baby boy. i just do not get it. they are the best dogs AND I DO MEAN THE BEST! my greyhound love my house full of cats. loves my kids.

This is not a greyhound issue - this is a people issue and the lack of the enforcement of laws to prevent people like this from ever owning an animal. I have at least 100 greyhounds on my property at a time and NEVER have I ever seen animals in that condition and if I did, the person who brought them to me would be reported straight away. This is neglect and indicative of the person who owned them. Absolutely disgusting. I hope the people who owned any of those dogs rots in hell.

I have three rescued greys :) (hopefully a fourth to be added in the next few weeks) and I know all about the horrors of what these dogs have to go through - at the minute there is a beautiful little girl up for adoption who when she came to the kennels had to had her nose remade as some dickhead trainer thought that instead of having her adopted or put down - he was going to do it himself with a spade. Poor little girl was so terrified of men it's taken months for her to be ready for adoption

I have 3 rescued greyhounds and they make the most amazing pets. These dogs are so gentle and loving. How anyone can treat them like that is beyond me. The racing industry and fat cats that use these poor dogs for entertainment and money making should be treated the same way

The dogs in this clip are greyhounds, victims of the racing industry. A govt committee estimated that in order to feed the British racing industry alone about 12,000 greyhounds go missing between being earmarked at 3 months and registered for racing a year plus later because they are not up to the job. Then there are the thousands who disappear after racing when they are no longer money making units! Just a few of them in this clip........

Greyhounds are amazing dogs. This video is very painful to watch. There seems to be some hope, as there some kind folks who organizes adoption programs, many volunteers helping to bring these ex-racers in, many more kind folks also provide foster homes for them before they can be adopted.
Would it be ok to link this on Facebook? I figure each person have about 200 friends on Facebook, maybe 10 of those will care and spread it to their lists and so on and so forth. May just help awareness.

man i miss my greyounds, lady was abused because she couldnt race cause of a disease that caused her toenails to fall off she was stuffed in a cage and hosed down she was afraid of everything even flies but most of all humans...allie on the otherhand was treated like a god because she was such a good racer...animals are like humans they just cant help themselves with things like that, some people r fast some people r slow just like dogs...may u girls R.I.P :'(

as a person who owns greyhounds and loves them to death people who do this to this beautiful animals should be shot. seeing these images made me cry because i could not possibly think of someone doing these things. they are such loving animals, that is why we try to rehome our retired greyhounds, and thankfully most of them have found absolutly loving homes.

I have 2 greyhounds, both saved from the needle after they were no longer any good for racing... and they are the most beautiful loving dogs in the world.
they absolutely LOVE kids, and their biggest joy in life in snuggling up on the couch for a cuddle.
NO animal deserves the kind of treatment racing dogs get, and its even worse that it happens to a breed, that by nature, are so laid back, and loving.
they have one of the best temperaments ive ever seen.

to Osiris, the point is, is those dogs are bred to race. period. They spend way to much time in small cages, and their life is racing, and that's it! I'm not defending racing but not all of these pictures are racing greyhounds. Several are galgos from Spain, a cousin to the greyhound. They are used by hunters and then cruelly disposed of. Such as hanging them from trees and throwing them in wells.

I adopted a Greyhound 3 years ago and it was the best thing i have ever done! She is sooo amazing! If you can afford to adopt one, DO IT! You wont regret it. They can love you like no other. My greyhound finally learned how to play with a toy this year, my 1 year old niece taught her and it was such a happy moment when she figured it out. She is great. They need your help! I am trying to adopt another!!!

The sad fact is that most greyhounds found like this are rescued from abusive adoptive homes or are "coyote greyhounds" bred by people only to hunt wild animals.
Racing owners cannot let their dogs get into this kind of condition because they cannot race like that!

hi all i am a greyhound owner and trainer and i have never seen a more touching video i really dont know what to say but my dog is better feed and groomed than my self as i really care bout him and hes won me bout 25 of 36 races and i feel that this has to stop so the rescue people should be givin more power than the police and arrest and bring people to the courts and very heavily fined and locked up for years and we keep them in jail for a very long time god im in shock good video

If I had not already decided to open my heart and my home to an unwanted Greyhound, this would be it! I seen your comment about the Greyhounds.If you can afford to adopt one do it.I promise you wont regret it.I adopted one 3 years ago.This year she finally figured out how to play toys and it was such a wonderful sight!I cried so hard because i had finally broke the barrier she had up.The reason they are abused is because one they lost a race or two they are getting old & not doing good jobs.Orchid my greyhound has scars for some reason but i have given her enough love to cover them up.
