I believe that Fred Phelps twisted the words in the Bible to fit his own prejudices and in turn make himself seem more powerful in his eyes as well as the eyes of his "church" members. Phelps has no more right to judge others when he himself, I'm sure, is far from perfect.

@ginastarke2 Apparently they don't believe anyone outside of their church is capable of interpreting the bible correctly, so whatever quote you throw at them, they'll just say you either took it out of context or don't know what you're talking about because you're not a biblical scholar. And even if you were a genuine biblical scholar with decades of experience, they'd just say you're a fake cause you don't think like them. WBC will bend law and logic alike to accommodate their cult's customs.

@pantherace1000 - I don't know. I wonder that myself every day... I think it's because there is less and less control over people so they think they can do whatever they want. But in certain cases it's okay as long as it doesn't harm anyone and it's helpful to you. (like if you are lgbt and you would commit suicide if you couldn't just be you) But in the case of these people they cause more hatred than they are worth and cause alot of people to be violent.
