@SirApathetic Oh hold up: Salamence has an excuse! Salamence evolves from Shelgon (Cocoon-like stage) which evolves from Bagon (Larval-like stage (metaphorically)) but Dragonite doesn't have an excuse because between Dratini and Dragonair there's no larval-to-cocoon stage thing.

It's the same deal with Larvitar, Pupitar and Tyranitar and don't go saying they're not dragons that's not important but they follow the same thing as Salamence.

First of all, a coccoon Pokemon is limited, much like Metapod, Kakuna, Cascoon, etc. He is FAR from limited, because he can still do fire attacks like Flamethrower. Besides, he's an endurance pokemon, not a cocoon Pokemon like Metapod or Cascoon.

Dragonair does make a drastic transformation, but I believe Shelgon does a bit too. Maybe not as much, but to some degree it does.
