i do not like the fianchetto bishop around 2:16 . it doubled the pawns from bishop knight exchange, which magnus took advantage of. Clearly a crucial move as it was one of Magnus longest moves and he castled queenside after the exchange. Another indicator of confidence on queen side due to the doubled pawns , in my opinion.

Just taking a look at it, he probably didn't want to lose his position... and considering it was a hanging pawn it could be captured pretty easily later. I'm assuming he knows the lines much better than us so I can't say why exactly but I'm sure there is a trap or something bad along those lines
