This song was written by song witer and guitarist Russ Ballard in 1976. The song was first "covered" by the band "Head East" in 1978, one year prior to Rainbow (1979), although Head East had a limited audience, mainly in the Midwest. Russ Ballard also wrote "Winning" later covered by Carlos Santana.

In my opinion, the Head East version is better (check it out on YouTube)...Someone should give credit to Russ Ballard and to Head East for covering this song in 1978.

@skibumpmc There was also a cover by all-female South African rock band Clout - their version was harder-rocking than Ballard's original (although it retained the synth solo and the scat-style "di-dit-t'-dit-doo" refrain) and was the version that inspired Rainbow's version. I still think that Rainbow's version is the best.
