These old trestles are the closest thing we have in this country to the Roman aquaducts. I hope that they aren't torn down for scrap. Here in Iowa, our Govt. seems to be on a "get rid of it if it's old" kick. No "rail bank" like some states have. So it's sold for scrap--1 mile of track will net ten thousand dollars as scrap. To replace with new is over 2 millon dolars per mile. Sad, so sad.
