  • Atroces , ces soprani qui vibrent autant et qui chantent faux!!! l'écriture de cette pièce n'est pas révolutionnaire, mais s'écoute bien .

  • Good sensitive text setting. I'm only speaking as a singer who's done a lot of choral work, and a musicologist who's done lots of orchestral analysis -- that is, NOT as a composer! So really, only for what it's worth. I think when you use these close-cluster sonorities you still need to watch the voicing lower down and keep it thinner, so your harmonics don't get muddy. More so if you use the acoustic spaces that have a long reverb, as you will do for this liturgical stuff.

    Merry Christmas!

  • That made me anxious for the third line, but then the sudden swell was really unexpected I thought, but ok. Then going into the Dona nobis pachem was familiar with the build to the end and then a release... but I found the resolution to an octave somewhat unsatisfying.

So, I guess, overall I thought it was neat, but mildly unsettling. Maybe I'm just too used to big resolutions after big tension (and you certainly had the latter).

But that's just my thoughts; who cares what I think?

  • @DrSkotomov Wow, thanks for all the comments! I definitely agree with you about the big resolution. I've always had issues constructing really satisfying climaxes.

  • It has potential, but it's far too boring and unsettling.

  • Heh, some really neat things in that. I got goosebumps the first time I listened.

The first line was really nice; the tension appropriately with the words and mostly released the tension while indicating that there's more. I thought it was really interesting how you keep building up, but not resolving in the second, though. I thought for sure it was going to resolve at m. 17 but then it didn't, so my ear thought that it must at the end of the line, but you kept it suspended into m. 19

  • incredible talent at such a young age. While influences can be seen, this piece is still quite unique
