@Atheisophy Well, yeah, pretty much. The critics went in to complain about the lack of plot or depth- since they'd seen the high-octane trailers- and because of that predisposition, they completely ignored and forgot to look for the plot and depth that was actually there. Sucker Punch does have depth, and it does have a rather interesting plot...it's a shame that so many people went in just to complain about it. Although, some of the reviews that miss the point- especially newspapers- are funny.
@ninjabreadman1993r It's a bunch of sluts fighting monsters...That's all there is to it. Besides, anyone who knows about Zack Snyder knows his films don't have depth--rather, they just focus on the costumes and the surface. Watchmen had some scenes that were very visually arresting and cool takes on the comic (mostly Rorschach), but the rest of it was just mindless sex scenes and a generic soundtrack...The guy is trying so hard to be a Tarantino with effects, and fails so badly.
@Atheisophy Same here. My movie, novel and game shelf is filled with fantasy and sci-fi, and some of it has a complexity that would blow some peoples minds. I mean, A Song of Ice and Fire and Wheel of Time's political complexity is mind-boggling...and I get it. Sure, there are hundreds of ways to interpret Sucker Punch, and that's kind of the point. People seem to be missing the point and expecting something that it isn't, which is why it's so unpopular. They rate it as something that it isn't.
I loved it. I really did...why didn't you guys? If you got it completely, it's actually very good...I will say this; Sucker Punch makes Inception look like the Teletubbies in complexity. Although, Inception really wasn't complicated from where I was sitting...ah well.
