John Updike was my great uncle i have the last name of hardage my mom came from the updikes, John updike was my grandfathers 3rd cousin my grandfather is from New York my uncle has the name of john updike also. i thought this was pretty cool that i am related to a great american poet and author.

yeah i just found out from my grandmother that John updike was my grandfathers 4th cousin or something like that so yeah his blood runs in my veins

Unutterable sadness, that John Updike has left us. He can't be replaced and I, for one, feel the loss keenly. William F. Buckley died last February...and now John Updike. I grieve for the world at large, without their gifts and wisdom and gentlemanliness.
