I know the chopper on alot of Thunderbolt are set differently, making the pitch sound lower or higher but this is the way ALL the 1000T's should sound like. Thumbs up if you agree.

@Cars2fan Chopper Level 5 is the standard factory setting when T-bolts were being made. A place can order a T-bolt to be set on which ever chopper level they wanted it to.

@Branden2732 Its a type of Thunderbolt model. I think B series were only made in the year 1980. All of Harper Woods T-bolts are B series but this one is the only offset one.

This is one of the best sounding TBolts on YouTube. Sounds like chopper level 6 on a 208V delta system, with 4 RPM rotation. The one at Bowen Elementary School here in Louisville sounds exactly like it, except it has a shorter wind-down.

@crzy4MAC12 Most Thunderbolts just have the regular rotator design but the main difference has to do with the blower types. A1 series had a bigger pulley system then the A2, B, and C series.

Why does everyone tell me that Thunderbolt 1003's sound no different from 1000T's(in Alert and Attack)? There is some sort of difference, not pitch, but the blower, I think.

@dockwellian45 The difference between a thunderbolt 1000T and 1003 is that the 1003 has dampers (solenoids) which aloows it to produce the hi-lo signal (alternating high tone/low tone). The 1000T lacks solenoids.

Oh, i went to that school as a kid. The siren only went off the first Saturday of ever month @ 1pm. There are several of these around the city. They were so cool sounding to me as a kid hearing all of them start up and end a couple seconds from each other.

You can see two from Harper Avenue (service drive). One is closer to 7 mile (in Salter Park) going North, the other closer to 8 mile going South. That one is in somebody's backyard. I always thought as a kid that it must suck to have a tornado siren in your backyard, lol!

There is no 1003s near Harper Woods or Grosse Pointe Woods. The only other Thunderbolt being heard in the background is Grosse Pointe Woods 4/5 Port running in alert signal.

Actually this was made back in the 1970s along with the rest of Harper Woods Thunderbolts. I think this use to be a A series Thunderbolt and something must have went wrong and they decided to use a direct drive rotator which is right now the B series.
