Jaws (though a cool movie,) is to blame for the shark stigma. One of my dad's friends is a keen surfer, and his girlfriend was taking pictures of him from the beach. It was only after they developed the pictures that they spotted the two massive, dark shadows under the water on either side of him. The sharks basically came up to him, saw he wasn't a seal, and left him alone.
@couvrefeu911 no shark or animal is a monster i don't know why we think they are if anything we are we come in their territory and blame them. i agree with you
just so you know, most sharks are very tame unless you're bleeding or on a surf board looking like a fucking turtle.
great whites don't eat humans. it's the blood / looking like a turtle that makes them mistake you as their pray. so the diver wasn't really in any danger...unless he had like a fucking cut on his knee or something. lol.
Great white sharks are actually very harmless to humans, its the grey reef shark you have to be worried about, but yes it IS great white shark, koods to that guy!!
In all seriousness though, I'd love to do what these guys do, I've checked for places in Australia where you can go scuba diving with Great Whites but the only places I've seen are the ones offering cage diving. They are animals to be respected, of course, they are predators and are one of the most dangerous creatures in the sea, but they do NOT hunt humans, any incedants in the past from people dying has been a mistake, and due to blood loss not eaten alive.
Hello Christian should not it beautiful is the white shark a beast we humans destroy our beautiful world .. people with high blood pressure to prefer staying out side. Fear time the soul.
This is amazing . This person is brave for swimming with the most feared sea predator in history. It's good to see a ferocious looking beast looking as docile as this, without letting its hunger take a bite so suddenly.
Be aware that creature could devour that person in seconds if it wanted to. I wouldn't risk it.
@musique1975 yea lol. the problem with sharks is there inquistive. but they use there nose and teeth kind of like a mouthing dog (massive dog with huge teeth)
This mans a bad ass, sharks are bad ass'es, these 2 ballers are just enjoying the company of each others awesome. When a shark eats some one, the last thing going threw his mind is "what a pussy".
I understand Hollywood is often criticized for their lack of depth in movies, often turning to brainless action rather than narrative; high budgets for low quality stories, etc.
But this, is their greatest failure. Dragging the film industry is one thing, but threatening the very existence of some of the apex predators, with some of the most important roles (indirectly, as the fear of these creatures often stalls many people's ability to take in our preservation ideas) is despicable.
@marcopolo359 Would depend on how heavy the balls are and how many fluid oz of water were beneath them. However, thank you for clearing that up with us.
@Slinkers999 Shut the fuck up with your stupid generic cuntfull comment.. You're not funny.. And it's okay not to be funny.. But not being funny is not okay when you're trying so hard..
A little fact for anyone who doesn't believe that man is more dangerous than sharks-125 million sharks are killed every year due to shark finning alone. A human is more likely to be killed by a falling coconut than be attacked by any species of shark.
gorgeous vid, shows both the placid and ferociuos sides to one of natures apex predators. it just shows that a great white is the same as almost any other fish and will investigate something first before risking itself with a bite, hell even my tropical fish do that. we should leave sharks to rule their water world just the same as we rule the land. and we should only eat from the sea what we rear in offshore farms, we no longer need to fish the open seas and steal the food from other animals.
People are this bored in life apparently swimming with great white sharks will lightin up your life ! Humans are Definently not from earth lol, we think we're gods when it comes to wildlife. Then when someone is attacked and killed people are like why would they do that??? Lmao maybe because that's what the animal fucking does?. Dumb
yeah the threat is not the one you can see its the one you cant see. The one you can see will be cautious, it might approach and try to take a nibble but you can push it away. I mean look at how cautiously they approach bait which as all the blood chum and is made to excite them, yet still their cautious, Its only when they realise the bait wont fight that they bite. They use the same approach with this diver, but when he moves and deters them they pull back
@beautifulstar33 because swimmers look like food. you swim on the surface and you mimic prey, or even worse dangle off a surfboard looking like a delicious seal. They're as scared of you under water as you are of them. they want easy food and if you're swimming vertically unlike anything they've seen, not frantically trying to escape, they're timid and have no clue whats going on..
@beautifulstar33 no, you're right on that. it's not exactly the safest thing to do, but that's not the point of the video. It's just conveying that they're not mindless eating machines out to attack everything with no regard.
@beautifulstar33 wont help you with orcas, and yes they will kill you. Orcas are not something you want to run into in the wild, or Seaworld. plenty of documentaries showing how they sometimes wont even eat what they kill and will just play with it for the hell of it. again, this video isn't showing sharks are cute cuddly pets. The shark does want to investigate and eat, just like on any other shark dive I'm sure the boat crew is pouring buckets of blood in the water to draw it in.
@bassettmike1 You do need a barrier for your protection, be it a spear gun, metal pole, or large camera to keep yourself safe. Nobody said it was safe. the shark is blatantly there to eat. the video is just showing that it's not a rampaging monster willing to do anything to kill. It's showing that the shark is more scared of the diver, obviously, which is why its not attacking. The video is showing the shark is intelligent and can sense danger, has a brain.
@beautifulstar33 Unfortunately, these species are drastically misunderstood. Sharks are dangerous; this is undeniable. You shouldn't swim near a shark, as you shouldn't take a stroll near a lion. But swimmers who get attacked fall for the stupid mistakes we shouldn't: making noise, splashing, and making themselves look like idiotic and wounded prey. The sharks detect brain activity (literally–electric fields). But often, they bit as we grab.. only they are more destructive. If you push one away
@beautifulstar33 Depends on how you look at it... dolphin attacks on humans usually end in death, (higher percentage of death per attack) and orcas are the biggest predators in the ocean (they have been witnessed to prey on white sharks). So in many ways, yes, but many others, no, i,e. they are generally more playful and it takes more to cause an attack. Why compare them though?
@BraZerver Well, I was thinking of swimmign with dolphins in the wild, so i was wodnering. If an orca sees u in the wild, is it liekly to come after u to attack u? ditto with a dolphin?
@beautifulstar33 To be honest, I don't know. I'm no expert... I just put what I've gathered from some stories and documentaries together... to be honest though, if I saw an orca I'd flee for my life. Dolphins though are usually playful by nature until provoked... So i guess if you aren't scaring them/their young/interfereing with their hunt, you should be absolutely fine! To be honest, if you have the opportunity to swim dolphins, sharks, (the smaller ones, no need to go for whites) GO FOR IT!
@beautifulstar33 it won't bite you, just as you wont put your hand on a dog's head if he opens his mouth to bite it. If we understand them more and change our perspective, attacks will decrease vastly.
Also, there are some random attacks, but these may be related to the sharks clearing territory for their eggs to spawn safely. Don't mess with the big guy's nest...
Yes, I think so, too. They are not just killers. But he would have been killed if he was unlucky. And it's not only for sharks but I can say this to any kinds of wild animals.
Sadly, not just great whites, but many shark species faces the endangerment of extinction as well. Wow, swimming with Great white sharks with no cage or armour in just a simple wet suit is pretty risky business. Fantastic video. I cant believe their curiosity didnt urge them to bite. Im starting to see now that great whites have a side to them that are actually big softys...
@ERICWAGNERSLUCID the bit at the end is to show the whites in full hunt mode compared to being curious and relaxed with the divers. In my opinion it demonstrates that shark bites on humans is accidental, a case of mistaken identity. We just aren't included in their meal plan.
Michael Rutzen said: “I think I’ve proved that these sharks are not the narrow-minded killing machines that everyone thinks they are. If that were true, we wouldn’t have been able to interact with these animals in the way that we’ve done."
its mike rutzen guys. he is down with andy hartman, both are white shark fanatics and absolutely professionals when it comes to free diving.
"Mike has spent more time swimming cage-less with great whites than anyone else. He has since travelled the world lecturing on sharks and filming documentaries on them" -wikipedia
@zarados2 Search Rodney Fox, Australian bitten by a great white. He is a shark advocate. If you search how many people have been bit by any kind of shark you will find the numbers are very, very low. More people die each month from choking on their food than sharks bite in 10 years. Jaws was just a MOVIE!
I am a fifteen year old female, and it has been my dream to swim with sharks since i was five years old. I've always had a passion for sharks, and my life wouldn't be complete if I never got to swim with them. When I'm old, I want something to tell my grandchildren. Something that will take their breath away.. Something that will give them hope, and to spread the word that these are beautiful creatures of the deep.
this is true, great whites attack when you don't see them. if they are in plain sight,, you will most likely be okay, be worried when they dissapear and u loose track of them, then they will sneak up ive heard
no the people that get killed by great whites were most likely paddling at the surface of the water like a seal.
sharks hate the taste of human carcass.
if you swam by their side they would never harm you. they aren't as aggressive as bull or tiger sharks.
i'm going to swim with a great white next year when i make a trip to south africa - to prove they aren't the mindless killing machines they're made out to be. my friend has swum with them a handful of times.
The most beautiful shark in the ocean, I'd love to do this but i don't know if i could control my fear enough to stay calm next to the ocean's largest predatory shark.
@XxComablackxX1937 When I was diving we encountered a Oceanic Whitetip Shark not that far off shore. Jacques Cousteau called it the most dangerous shark in the world. At the time it was petrifying and I really thought it would be able to hear my heartbeat, probably around 1500 beats per minute!. Though it is amazing to see deadly sharks behave so placidly - like in this video. It swam slowly and only stayed around us for a minute or so before moving on slowly. Beautiful at the time, never again!
I love this video as much. I agree Sharks are scary for their hunting ability but I'd never forgive myself if I had a chance to do this and passed it up.
Hardcore diving with those bad boys! It's proof enough that they are cautious and far from mindless predators. I noticed the way that guy made himself into a ball when the shark approached and stood his ground to make the shark change direction. I'll have to remember that one : P Cool vid
it really all depends on the shark. the great white has a diet on seals. hence the reason why surfers are attacked so much. odds of you being food for a shark is slim to none. but if you were to get attacked by a great white your injury would probably be massive maybe fatal. but i doubt it would eat you. and if you dont want a bite from these creatures, then i suggest you not take a risk and stay out of their fuckin terratory. i sure as shit wouldn't
Don't do drugs. Lol I'm playin

Seeing is believing, but what's with the bit at the end?
ERICWAGNERSLUCID 3 months ago
@ERICWAGNERSLUCID the bit at the end is to show the whites in full hunt mode compared to being curious and relaxed with the divers. In my opinion it demonstrates that shark bites on humans is accidental, a case of mistaken identity. We just aren't included in their meal plan.

@ozjaybabe I agree, I often go into the woods and pet the wild bears.

Think of them like Tigers. Sure they are deadly killers. But they are also extremely intelligent and would not kill humans unless provoked or hungry.
EmilyDreamed 3 months ago
Next time hang some fish around your chest and you will proove sharks are killers.

its mike rutzen guys. he is down with andy hartman, both are white shark fanatics and absolutely professionals when it comes to free diving.
"Mike has spent more time swimming cage-less with great whites than anyone else. He has since travelled the world lecturing on sharks and filming documentaries on them" -wikipedia

Great White Sharks aren't monsters.
tell that those those who were bitten.
They'll find that hard to believe
zarados2 4 months ago
@zarados2 even if they did eat humans(which they dont), that wudnt make them monsters
Kalernor 3 months ago

@md804dallas
no the people that get killed by great whites were most likely paddling at the surface of the water like a seal.
sharks hate the taste of human carcass.
if you swam by their side they would never harm you. they aren't as aggressive as bull or tiger sharks.
i'm going to swim with a great white next year when i make a trip to south africa - to prove they aren't the mindless killing machines they're made out to be. my friend has swum with them a handful of times.
can't wait!
Cla900 4 months ago
The most beautiful shark in the ocean, I'd love to do this but i don't know if i could control my fear enough to stay calm next to the ocean's largest predatory shark.
Maybe 1 day though.
XxComablackxX1937 4 months ago

I'll have to remember that one : P Cool vid

strappedthug 5 months ago
it really all depends on the shark. the great white has a diet on seals. hence the reason why surfers are attacked so much. odds of you being food for a shark is slim to none. but if you were to get attacked by a great white your injury would probably be massive maybe fatal. but i doubt it would eat you. and if you dont want a bite from these creatures, then i suggest you not take a risk and stay out of their fuckin terratory. i sure as shit wouldn't
