You all wanna know something else thats on the disc? Johnny B. Goode! Cool! And another cool fact I found out from the golden record link in the description is that in 3/9/2012 the Voyager will be 17,941.27 Million Km / 119.93 Astronomical units away from us!!
@tonystark159357 im pretty sure there will be some kind of air in thier spaceship or planet. besides, if they have inter stellar travel im pretty sure they could find out.
If aliens are smart enough to find a tiny spec of human creation, they will figure out how to play the record (there are instruction on the flip side, no joke)
first stupid comment: Youtube wouldn't let us toss that song into space. We didn't get copyrights for it. Second stupid comment: This made me so sad that i cried. third stupid comment: Blah Blah Blah thumbs up. Smart comment: Just comment about the damn video, Not try to get top comment. real comment: Don't thumbs this up? I don't want to be like the rest of youtube. <3
That's a little pointless.. I mean, if this is anything out there, what if they don't have a machine humans invented? How would they, unless perfectly coincidentally, they made one themselves?
@Muzicmyr0ck Well, actually the premise of a record is very, very simple and any intelligent beings out there should easily be able to figure out how to make it function properly. They sent a record out because it is simply the most versatile. you could quite literally use a record anywhere because you just scratch along the grooves to make something vibrate. A cd would be near impossible to understand to other lifeforms. and drawings? forget about it. It would make us look like cavemen.
@Muzicmyr0ck If aliens find voyager at any time in the comprehendable future then they will almost necessarily be of extreme super-human intelligence as they will have had to master fast interstellar travel and super-sensitive detection systems. Basically, if they have the scientific knowledge to find voyager, deciphering the record and its meaning should be no difficult task.
@Muzicmyr0ck if aliens have any kind of intelligence resembling ours - they would hopefully be able to carefully analyze the record, and notice a pattern - the circular grooves. at least, that is a start. if the aliens are not intelligence in any way resembling ours, then i guess it really doesnt matter.
@Muzicmyr0ck - since a record is an actual physical imprint of sound waves on a medium, there is a good chance that aliens (if they are in an advanced technological state) will have used a similar machine to record and playback sound in their history.
It's funny how the space lab video Michael did linked to this one, and the top asked question he had to answer was "Would Bear Grylls be able to survive in space" Pretty interesting.
Why can't we just dump litteral TRASH on the moon? It's not like anybody lives there! And we'll probably never go to moon anyways so let's just turn it into a dump! I think it's a good idea, I mean, we'll still see the moon, but we won't see trash, besause, you know, you can't se an empty shampoo bottle all the way from earth -_-
@LotusMelody But it would cost millions of dollars just for one ship to get up there and if you think about how much trash we got on earth you would understand that it would not only be extremely expensive and not very economical. You also have to fly at least I guess 50000 ship to get all the trash away and how cheep would that be?
It is also much cheeper (although not so good for the environment) to just dump it at sea or to just to burn it all.
How do they expect aliens to read the thing that are on they disc i mean they have lots of pictures and sounds but they are on a golden disc and how would they read whats on it??

Lemonater, the moon most likely has not been moving at 38mm per year away from earth, more likely slowly increasing that distance over millions of years...
@Lemonnater Because the moon and earth didn't come into existance at the same time. If you watched another of his videos (I dont remember which), you would learn the leading theory of the moon is that it came to existance when something collided with the earth and then solidified.
@CPMackenzie Lye. A strong caustic alkaline solution of potassium or sodium salts, obtained by leaching wood ashes. It is much used in making soap as well as its use in biodiesel. (from Wikipedia) it's very caustic and can degrade organic tissue

17367000000 km is the distance, Voyager 1 is now away from the sun
converted, Voyager 1 is 0.001835 lightyears away from our sun
It travels with a speed of 0.00005686 lightyears each year
The closest planet with earth-like conditions is actually 600 lightyears away from us
Meaning: If Voyager 1 would travel directly to this planet, it would be there in 10.552.201 years
The signal would travel 600 more years to earth, so if everything works fine, we may see aliens in just 10.552.801 years.
