  • I love watching Master Wong slap that kid silly.

  • This. Is. FAST !!!

  • ur mum .....ur bora

  • The problem he is having is he isnt punchin fast enough. He needs to punch him while he is trapped before he forces his arms up.

  • i salute who ever the director and producer are for this program and MR WONG for making martial arts program soooo informative and entertaining at the same time, you all have a good team together and thank you very much for these videos.

  • Wing Chun isn't about using force against force. When you feel the force you change the direction, go with it and attack from a new angle. When you're good at it you will be switching attacks many times in a few seconds, it flows and you never break a sweat. Having said that, I agree with Master Wong... why do you want to hurt your brother? If he's making fun of your kung fu, just agree with him... what are you really losing? If he tries to hurt you, then it's different.

  • You have to understand that this is a big problem with all students who do this. especially against boxer. people NEVER gice there hand up in real fights. they fight unconvential and not the way wing chun people want them to. Just a big flaw is the wing chun system. well, there lots.

  • @temponebl Dude...wings chun has moves for jabbing, hooks and take downs...research the style properly b4 you condemn it....wing chun men do not trap jabs...they trap hooks...or strikes that have commitment to them.....wing chun has quick strikes and intercepts for boxing jabs...so does JKD

  • @Dragoncannon4 It also teaches to kick the boxer in the nuts, poke him in the eye etc. How good is a boxer's defence against a headbutt or knee to the groin from the clinch. Maybe that is a big flaw in the boxing system because it was designed for people to fight in a way that they won't get badly injured

  • Greetings from Buk Sing Choy Lay Fut.

  • its always sunny at master wongs ??

  • i do taekwondo and i break every one ; )

    exapt master wong XD

  • evan was pissed off after master wong hit him lol

  • wisdom, strength and speed,,,,, that all matter but still need art formal to attack

  • Wing Chun is not a Muscular System. It is a Skeletal System. The techniques work based on proper use of the skeleton. This is why the system works well for a big or small person alike. Yip Man was a small man. Bruce Lee was a small man. Wing Chun was a small woman. Size and strength can not overcome good technique. But, I love your videos Master Wong. Keep em' coming! :^)

  • Funny I never get into martial arts discussions with people on line. I find most martial artist to be wierdos. LOL! But I had to comment on your reply. It seems to me that you are only familiar with the first form of Wing Chun. Yes, in the first form that practitioner's body is restricted limiting him to keep the shoulders square and only punch with the arms. The turning of the hips and further development of the punch technique does not come into play until the student gets to the second form.

  • (cont'd) By the time the person completes the system the shoulders are not square, the punch power comes primarily from the hips, and the movement is much more fluid. I respect your opinion of the art. Hey, it may not be the art for you. But, your assumptions that it is not scientific show either a lack of physiological understanding or a lack of understanding of Wing Chun as a system (maybe both). But hey, good luck with whatever system(s) you practice. I hope you find full self-expression. :^)

  • You have to understand that for a lot of people exposure to other martial arts only comes through what we see on the internet. In my town we have a boxing gym, a karate dojo and a BJJ affiliated school. No kung fu here. So, if there is indeed a change in the the way you guys use your shoulders then someone should post advanced level technique on youtube. Most of what I see is the beginner level stuff you mention. So, I guess you're right I'm lacking education in wing chun do to lack of exposure.

  • I understand completely. I am a student of boxing and BJJ among other arts. But, Wing Chun is closest to my heart - based on the philosophy and scientific principles of the art. You are right. Not many people post good representations of Wing Chun online. I like Master Wong's videos a lot. Although, I don't fully agree with his views on Wing Chun. If you can, look up Frances Fong or Emin Boztepe. I think they have really good examples of Wing Chun. Also, look up early Bruce Lee.

  • @wizedomeallah I know you posted this comment long ago, but I'm curious, how did you make them work together?

  • @HybridDragons Great question. For me, it's all about range. Wing Chun is a close range fighting system. So, I use it almost exclusively in that range. I use Western Boxing at middle range, just enough to evade, strike, and enter. I have a good kicking background via Tae Kwon Do so I use that (just the kicking) mixed with Muay Thai at longer range for entrance. And, I use BJJ for grappling range.

  • @wizedomeallah Ah clever! I might try that in the future! Thanks for getting back at me, this advice to me is worth a lot of money! I must perfect my Siu Lim Tao, learn Boxing and Fitness, My BJJ is easily my best attribute - All my little meaning School scraps were won with BJJ, And I never had to hurt anyone, which is why I love BJJ. However, there will come a day when I will have to be ready to show no mercy. That's where WC Boxing and Muay Thai Might come in - Time to train. Thank you.

  • @HybridDragons My pleasure brother. I think the beautiful thing about the mastery of and Martial Art is the ability to stop, control, or overcome any attacker without the need to hurt them. I think of Musashi fighting off trained and deadly swordsman with a tree branch and think, "That's the level at which I want my Art to operate." They say that Ip Man was able to completely control any one of his students (including Bruce Lee) without ever having to hurt them. This is mastery! Train hard bro!

  • BTW, when I merged Wing Chun principles into my Western Boxing, I was almost unstoppable in the ring! ;^)

  • Thanks for the info on trapping Master Wong and Evan, I have started teaching my nephew what I had learned from you, I shall work on trapping with him soon, he's sore from the initial warm up exercises (I haven't even gone through the 5 step or forms yet) and a little Gat Sau, and Lat Sau.

  • Wing Chun is about learning to read energy. Trapping is only a way to train the limbs to free themselves from obstructions. But Chi Sao teaches us how to read the energy properly, and more importantly it triggers which traps to use. If a person is giving your a strong tense energy, then you would apply a different trap than you would to someone offering a lighter energy. Size doesn't matter. It is about how well you can read energy, and how well your body is trained to deal with what you get.

  • evan was at the wong time and at wong place

  • @RabbitMB two wongs dont make a white

  • at 2:25 when master wong traps evans other hand, he does it so fast you cant even see how he did it .... even when you stop and start over and over

  • i know, its the level I would like to attain as well.

  • That was a hard question because we dont know how big or small his brother are or how big or small he is. And we dont know his level on Wing Chun either, is he good is he bad etc.. There are many factors that play in when it comes to what will work and what will not work. For an instance: If I face a small guy I could look him up easy, but if the guy is big then I would need to use a punch to soften him up first before I use a locking or throwing technique.

  • Master Wong, you're gonna end up without any partners to play with if you keep that up.

  • u think he was challenging evan testing his patience or he is one of his favorite students....

  • every kung fu teach i know is like that with their senior students

  • I'm getting a taste of that now from my northern shaolin sifu. Yeah they give you more grief but you do grow closer and its awesome. peace.

  • Evan is one of the most senior student's of not the senior student of master Wong, he started training about the same time I did if not a little bit earlier in late '99-2000. Don't know how many of the original eight or nine of us guys are still with master Wong but Evan is one of the best at Wing Chun, quick learner.

  • @Outamyhead Yes he has progressed, just watching these clips he has come along very well.

  • How about a disadvantage position such as sitting down or someone grabs you from behind?

  • he seemed pissed off today

  • is there a day where he isn't xD

  • finally somebody wif the same problem and now i know the answer

  • pretty helpful, so really it's your opponents momentem and your own speed which makes trapping easier. thanks

  • nice hits to evan,i bet he liked that.

  • just grip his arm after you trap it, and then when he muscles it away from his own body, use a lop sau (pulling hand) tech and see if you can break his balance sending him flying off center down and away from your center-line.. then get to his blind side and strike him or take him down.

  • looked like he was hitting Evan a bit harder than usual :(

  • lol Great response

  • the camera was a little blurry today. still totally awesome as always though.

  • nvm it just wasn't done uploading to youtube

  • :) yeah boii
