Great post. The song was indeed Elvis' very first single, but it was a cover of a song by Mississippi bluesman Arthur 'Big Boy' Crudup, although the arrangement is very different. This is clearly an improvised thing, taking lines from other old Blues songs too. Thanks for the post, however long it may last...

@theorangebox999 Well, I have the same version on two different bootlegs. One says it's an outtake from The Freewheelin studio sessions, the other says it's from the Another Side sessions. I reckon the piano sounds like Black Crow Blues from Another Side, so I think it must be from that album's sessions. There is a terrific version on the Dylan/Johnny Cash bootlegs too.

It's probably around when his single "Mixed-Up Confusion" came out in 1962 because its said he recorded this song around that time.
