She is also very smart, takes her a second to learn anything we want her to learn or something that is in her interest, for example how to open the doors or to topple apples from the three, she likes to eat it :). She is very playful still, at 9. AND, when my father had a stroke she pooled him out of house so that our neighbor could see him and call an ambulance. She literally saved his life, and mine, many times when I had hypoglycemia, she wakes me up every time.
I've got mine as a present, I don't know anything about her parents or gens but I got lucky, she is THE BEST dog EVER! Very gentle, very friendly, also protective, if someone takes something from our garden when she is outside and we are not she jumps at him/her and push them, never bites, but when that person come again, she is keeping very close eye on them and let us know always that it is a bad person. Usually some of our neighbors picking the flowers or using some of garden tools :)
Thankyou for this confirmation that our very much like your dale, Airdoodle pup will be good with kids...they move and act just alike! he goes to concerts and to church with me!
Our Luft's saddle is his only brownish, and he is very skinny with larger flop ears, but otherwise, he looks and ascts just like this...the stretching he dilarous tooes is h us....We had not been able to find another Dale since our first died in 1989. We are so happy to have another like one now. pics sometime!
@willispencer she's a goldendoodle. Also great with kids. My wife and I say that she's a "perma-puppy" because at three years old she still acts like a puppy while her airedale sister is more mature at the same age
airedales where bred to be police assistants back in UK, I used to have 2 Alfie and Zena, Alfie died last year from cancer. It broke my heart and i almost died with him, athough Zena is still here to comfort me. They are good dogs and love kids. I am planning of taking in my arms another airedale come end of the month. These dogs are phenomenal and very patient and pain tolerant. the very reason why i didnt know that Alfie had pain from cancer and that almost killed me.
Yes they can be great with children, any kind of dog can....it just depends on how well you train them, and most importantly love them and treat them w/ affection. If you can do that, there should be no problems :)
@8270361507 I agree, but I feel compelled to ad this: it also matters when they get a little older, and/or are ill. years ago, I watched tragedy strike when a dog, that had allowed kids to fall on him for years, was just one day older--a little more cranky (probably, like people, had a bad back) maul a kid. Never before did that, but as they get older, things can get dicey, I don't care how good a dog. Kids have strong hands, they can grab, and yank.
Great vid but in my experiences the docility of this breed is very dependant on the breeder. They can range from being extremely gentle to downright nuts depending on their breeding.
airedales, i assume are terriers, are FANTASTIC with small children
