I love to see authors reading their books, but I dislike how he feels the need to explain how it's not meant to be read aloud and such. It's great prose. Have some confidence, young fella.
@DJNSide He does have confidence. If he did not, he would not publish these things for us to read. He simply is coerced to read aloud for his book tour and does not agree that reading literature aloud does it justice. He is stating his thoughts, not protecting himself from criticism.
Where exactly did Jonathon Safran Foer see these cattle? Texas is where most cattle in U.S. come from. I have lived in Tx all my life. I grew up on one of the largest cattle ranches here. We had 8000 cattle. It was pasture land, trees, windmills. Nice place for a cow. Every rancher I have ever seen raises their cattle on pasture land. You know wheat & grass.
So the fact that cattle are raised in horrible environment 99% of the time, is stupid & ludicrous

this is my favorite book in the world. the ending made me cry. having lost a father i felt a surreal connection with the book. It was really a different feeling to how i feel towards other books. I love reading, and have many other loved books, however extremely loud and incredibly close was just amazing.
