I thought that too. But it's a pretty good fit, makes Rolf sound a little dumber than he used to be though. Still, it's the first attempt I've seen sense Henson passed and bet getting him right is harder than Kermit. Many who worked with him suggested that Rowlf is closer to Henson's actual personality.

I am a Muppet fan and yes;

Like Rowlf, some of the classic Muppet characters may sound slightly different today because of recasting since the original performers have either pased away or retired, but that simply cannot be helped. The Muppets have been around for several years, change is bound to happen.

Recasting the characters is certainly better than just retiring them.

Its great to see the Muppets doing things again. :)

These youtube videos are not the first time that Bill Barretta has performed Rowlf.

Bill performed Rowlf once for a brief appearance on Statler and Waldorf's short-lived "From the Balcony" webshow.

And Rowlf was also heard in the background briefly in "Its a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" that came out in 2002.

But yes, these youtube videos are the biggest thing that Rowlf has done in a while.

Word is that Skeeter was invented for the cartoon because network types asked for her (for once I think they night have been right; There was a shortage of girl muppets) but she never existed as a puppet and I don't know if they ever intend to make one.

I don't know, Rowlf doesn't seem like himself in this video. He doesn't have the quick wit personality that Jim gave him. Rowlf always had a whitty remark to give no matter what situation he was in. I never noticed or paid attention to it until now. Rowlf was kind of the Groucho Marx of The Muppets. I remember when he and Fozzie were playing piano at the same time and Rowlf says "Can you play hatless?" and Fozzie replys "I don't know who wrote it!" LOL ;) oh well, Disney and Business I guess!

Yeah...it's always a little frustrating when either you or people you know do the original voices better than the folks doing them now (I do a few myself) but these guys also work the puppets and it takes several years of training before they are allowed to perform before the camera. I'm just glad to see the Muppets back in action--and there's a new movie in production, too!!

I'm loving these official Muppet youtube videos, it's nice to see them back in action again (especially with Kermit's role in this year's Macey's Day Parade, the upcoming new Muppet X-Mas special this year, and the rumored new theatrical Muppet movie in the works).

Rowlf's new voice is great (I think all of the Muppet recasts have been excellent so far), and this vid (as were the others) was a blast to watch.

Either way,it's one of the better things they're doing with Kermit and friends. "Studio DC:Almost Live" is more for the DC kiddies and the "Wizard of Oz" movie was so-so at best(but it still had some trademark Muppet moments). I'm just happy to see them again.
