I just bought the 12wx off of Newegg. I cant wait! I have experience with the 21UX but I couldn't spring the $2K for it. I'll probably upgrade to it eventually though.
I use my current tablet alot for concept and character design work and was thinking trading it in for the 12wx. my worry is that because I'm quite an intensive user light scratch lines tend to form on the tablet.
So my question is how resistant is the cintiq screen? and if those light wear marks appear will they be noticable once you turn the display on?
@architectus777 cool I was gonna order it after the weekend. I've had cintiq envy for a long time now, cant wait to get my hands on one.
So just to confirm... are you saying its not noticable once the LCD is turned on? coz I could see that really annoying me if I have to try to see through or working over it. I don't mind so much if its visible when its turned off.
But $1000/2000$???Seriously??? And Christmas already passed, FUCK! Ok so you say its worth it, but do you think you could point out any flaws in the Cintiq. I must know what I'm dealing with fully! Before I spend that kind of money.
As depicted in your video, you're very pleased with the Cintiq, but after reading so many mixed reviews (from "I love it!" to "Why did they release this?") I have to ask, is it honestly and truly worth $1000, or the $2000 for the 21ux? Do you have issues when it comes to drawing or manipulating the interface at the borders of the screen? (I've heard terrible things about jitter and wobbly lines when you hit the edges)
@HollowEidolon Firstly, yes, it is asboltely worth the money. Yes, I have issues with the edges of the screen, but it is not that much of a problem. I never draw on the edges of the screen and see no reason why I ever would need to. Sometimes it can be annoying when I want to quickly delet a layer, but it only took a bit to get used to how the pointer acts in corners. Why are they drawing at the edges? Makes no sense. That's why you map spacebar to a button on the tablet.
Hi, I just bough a cintiq but when I use it in Photoshop I never seem to get a true black colour however hard I press, it just seems to be light grey. Am I missing something? Thx
@menotspeakenglish I wish, then I would be well off. I just love Wacom tablet. I've tried many brands, and Wacom is the best. The Cintiq is really cool, though.
I like drawing, I'm proficient at it, I like photoshopping with digital tablet although not that good, I'm even a business major but I'm thinking of getting this one, should I really get it?
2 more months and my parents will be getting me the 12" model for my 21st birthday !! I can't wait. Going to be so much better than working with my current generic tablet.
@DavijoBoy gz man!! my mums getting me a top range alienware M17x R2 and a cintiq 21ux for starting my masters in glasgow school of art! but the damn 2010 21ux is sold out for 1 weeek now -.-
This one is crazy cool.. and the 21ux is even sicker!!! In my opinion save the money and get the larger one. It'll blow your mind what you can pull off with it.
OMg omg omg... i want one of these bad boys. A grand isnt to bad. Im going to start putting some bucks away for it. You might have to help me calibrate it when i do eventually get it... please.
I asked you a few months back if you used a tablet or the Cintiq, and you mentioned you didn't at the time. I'm VERY happy for you because if anyone should own one and use it the way it should be that would be you. You have huge talent and this is a tool that is well deserved by you. Congrats and enjoy!
This thing is way overprice. Do u really think it's that much awesome? How is it different from maybe a HP TM2 tablet pc where u can basically draw straight on the screen? Cheaper, and a complete functioning pc. Just wondering because Im planning to buy something similar. Hope the MS. courier can do art work and the HP slate will support Pen pressure.
None of those tablet PC, that I know of, have 1024 levels of pressure, and the tilt range that Cintiq does.
The new lines of Cintiq are going to have twice that like the Intuos 4.
Drawing on those PC feels rather weird and not like drawing.
You really have to try a Cintiq to feel how awesome it really is. Digital art is awesome as is, but being able to do it as if you were using a pencil, just wow, man, Seriously. I know I sound like I'm exagerated, but I'm really not.
I got mines last few weeks ago, it's WAYYY better than tablets. When I had my crappy bamboo, i drew like, maybe a few hours here and there. But with my cintiq, I basically draw everyday nonstop.
Ok kool thanks alot bro.

How often does it lag with the VGA and will my 24hd be horrible if I use the VGA. Only because my laptop doesn't have the dvi.
BboyTzilla 1 week ago
@BboyTzilla I haven't noticed any difference between vga and dvi to be honest.

@abmong I don't think the lag is ever noticable. The lag you see is from my cheapo webcam I used back then.

@Taurshien The major flaw is that at the very edges of the screen, the pen goes kind of wonky, but that's not really a big deal.

@architectus777 OK thank you! Now are you sure thats all? Cause if it is then yes soon I will bring one into my life.

@psycho79x Make sure opacity and flow are set to 100 percent. Open the Wacom properties software, and turn down the sensativity for your pen.

Neil, you should check out Smudgeguard.

Yeah, I saw a few other people using smudgeguard for their Cintiq. I think I am going to get one so the oils on my hand don't smudge the screen.
But yeah, drawing with the Cintiq is so much fun.
