It's a bass flute - it's an octave lower than a normal flute. The next one along (which you can't really see) is an alto flute, which is in between the two pitches.
I want to see bobbing and swaying! jiggling about and smiling! :-DD Would love to see you guys doing this in the snow on the streets... would be cool.
I think you might be able to offset the slow tempo by creating more dynamics and making the piece move a bit more. It sounds beautiful, but it tends to drag a bit... Hope this helps!!
you made a nice arrangement of this piece. good job. I would say that the tempo despite being slower than the original is chosen very appropriately as you guys are not playing strings but winds. It's more expressive when it's played slower on the winds. again, very good job.

would this song be difficult to play for a highschool flute choir?

That was really great. I looked it up because the flute ensemble at my school is doing the very same piece. Hope that we can sound half as good!

I'm not sure on the nomenclature, but the lowest tone seemed sharp throughout the piece.
I just don't think this piece has the same effect when played so slowly. Certain parts work, others not so much.
