I havent heard Robert Cray in about 14 years when I last saw him in Glasgow Barrowlands, he is one artist that is uterly timeless, I cannot beleive that he is not more well known. Come back to Glasgow!!!
naganocumos ,intresting fcukn name...any way ,i wod put tht dwn to your purswation..!!! no punn intended.....i wod not hav left tht fcukn knowin those little freaks-stil unaware of who this genius is....but i supose thas your credibility not mine...!!!
Had to miss the show here in Hampton Roads, much to my dismay. What always hits me about much of Robert Cray's music is that in years past, this wouldn't be classified as blues, but R&B or soul. Those genres have been taken over so much by hip-hop that blues-based R&B and soul music have little place. This sounds more like, say, Solomon Burke or Otis Redding than Buddy Guy or John Lee Hooker.
Aside from his musical influence, his lyrics meet reality and hit me as right on in the experince in life. I mean, if I could sing, I'd be singin' the same blues.
I always wonder if Robert Cray just picked up a Stratocastor one day and started playing it.... No lessons,no struggling to find this cord or that, the sound just flowed .Add in dynamic vocals and lyrics....And you have Robert... an American icon if there ever was one.
Robert plays a classic combination of a hardtail Strat and a twin reverb amazingly well. I saw him in a small smoky club when I was in college and he was amazing.
I have long admired the voice and talent of Robert Cray. I still listen to my first cassette of the "Strong Persuader" album. Thanks for posting such a high quality performer
few years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand;sorry i didnt want that happening to me
This guy is the ultimate substance and style! Alas, there is no place on the radio for real talent. Black radio plays 50 cent, and white radio is old rock and roll, neither is bad, but mostly not that good. Real talent falls between the cracks!!!! Just a sign of the times.
my ex wife had an affair with my so called mate & this song I couldn't listen to without getting teary or angry. I'm pleased to say I'm well over it now & its a great song

At a recent BBQ I had a quick conversation with someone who challenged me to name any famous 'black' guitarists.
I suggested Jimi Hendrix as an example.
He said "Other than Jimi Hendrix".
I said "Bo Diddley".
He said "Who?"
I then said "Robert Cray".
He announced to the rest of those listening that I was making up names.
The frustrating thing was that those listening didn't know any better. So they went with him and his ignorance, because he sounded more convincing.
Life's like that.

How fortunate I was to hear his music when I graduated High School.
After hearing this song, I went out and got his album right away.
Each song is a story, to say the least, and one of the best guitar players and songwriters.
So disappointed he didn't have more hits, but what he has created, is quality.
Something which I doubt many "musicians" know what that word means.
He's a story teller, not just a musician!
