This video is full of bear-faced lies. We have 1000s of intermediate fossils. Take the example of the half bird half reptile. It has been proven that many dinosaurs, such as Velociraptor had feathers (much like the dinosaur in the vid), and for an example closer to birds, just look at Archaeopteryx. That quote from Derek Ager; it does NOT say intermediates do not exist, simply that evolution seems to happen in waves as niches become available (such as after the extinction of the Dinosaurs).

The "abrupt" nature of the Cambrian Explosion is only when compared to other points in history, and the "explosion" itself happens over about 80 million years. Oh, and the trilobite eye; not all that complex when compared to our eyes. We have orders of magnitude more photoreceptor cells, a much more complex lens, movable eyes, the ability to alter the focus and amount of light entering the eye etc. Also, the fact that insects use compound eyes does not make them the same as trilobites.

Finally, everything that evolved in the Cambrian had ancestors - simpler pre-cambrian life forms (single celled organisms etc). Richard Dawkins is not a zoologist, but an evolutionary biologist and you have taken his statement WAY out of context.

@skydome29 Yeah, sort-of. I wouldn't say every fossil is an intermediate SPECIES, but yeah, they are "intermediates" in the sense that they are part of a chain or steam of decent. "Intermediate species" doesn't make sense since the transition from species to species isn't black and white. (Basically, transitional fossils: yes. Transitional species: no).

Regardless though, I was just refuting the obvious falsehoods portrayed in the vid with obvious examples (such as Archæopteryx).

@Alphathon I misspoke on the word species. It was a quick type job and I should have remembered that we argue about species and kingdoms of life that exists today. I've never liked the word "forms" for this, but I cannot think of another, species was a failed attempt.

Wonderful how all living things are made of cells or a singular one(CellTheory). All those cells have DNA, a cell membrane, ribosomes for making proteins, RNA for tranferring the instructions from that DNA to make proteins, replication of that DNA for the next generation of cells. In complex cells called Eukaryotes, that developed from bacteria about 1.5 billion yrs ago(Endosymbiont Theory), we see more developed organelles like Mitochondia and Chloroplasts. Evolution is a fact.

Oh, and the transitional forms of life? Um, they're ALL transitional forms (as each evolved from an earlier form and might well give way to a different form). Furthermore, there are many examples of creatures that have the characteristics of earlier and later forms - just as Darwin predicted we would find.

Part II ends with some awesome photos of wildlife. It's amazing to realize the amount of diversity natural selection provides over hundreds of thousands and millions of years of evolution. I feel sorry for those who cop out by saying "God done it."
