Notice that at around 0:30 he is actually playing part of the riff from "Secret Code Synthesizer" on his "There's a Whole Lalo Schifrin Gon' On" album!
The reason for getting the american dream for Lalo Schifrin is that he brought a remarkable renew into the musical field into USA. He got ideas that until today were ahead of its time. I admire the american composers , but many of them with the social crisis of 60s got outdated. Ok, there are some exceptions.because there were younger people, but they were into rock and roll and pop music. Lalo made a revolution that must be considered when a true book about music history will be written.
The people say that argentineans are egomaniacs , but we have people doing great things here and around the world. Lalo is from ARGENTINA. Best living female Classic music pianist (also best in 20th century)Martha Argerich and best masculine living pianist Daniel Baremboim are argentineans! hahaha. Then of course come myself! hehehe
I have to agree with Vampyros1...this is an outstanding piece. I love playing it on the piano. In fact..the piano solo in the middle of the tune always got my attention, when I watched the show ,as an 8 year old back in 1967. Bravo to Lalo!!!
To hear more of Lalo's classic music check out the reissues Verve Records released years ago as well as his arrangements on Jimmy Smith's album "The Cat" (which he composed).
Very True ! Bluesette was composed by Toots Thielemans and Normal Gimbel in 1963, and was quickly a hit in the Jazz world that could well have inpired Lalo Schifrin. There are a lot of similarities indeed.

Easily one of the greats—a lot of modern film and TV composers do not even come close to Lalo Schifrin.

@luciremagazine - I agree completely, I just made a playlist tonight for LS.
I am approaching 4000 songs on 350 playlists by author and year, so I added this to the 1967 & 1975 playlists, first and last years for Mannix.
use the yt searchbar, enter a year followed by chkjns and you're back ! ! !

I wonder if Lalo Schifrin was inspired by Toots Thielemans' jazz standard "Bluesette" when he wrote the "Mannix" theme.

It's amazing how his two most famus themes - Mission : Impossible and Mannix still come across so good today, 40 years after they were first aired.
