I do know that Bill complemented many versions of his songs. He would join in a jam with this version as well as his on. I love it when music can breath from the heart of the player. I'm also glad we don't all like the same things. It truly would be a boring place. This from just another nobody picker that love both versions and all the others.
Neat video -- I really liked all the images -- was that the burger king making a cameo in there? The jazzed up version of JR didn't do that much for me but sounds like the crowd loved it!
I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. IntuneDan doesn't have to like it. He's entitled to his own opinion. I totally disagree with his opinion.
The virtuosity of the musicians can't be questioned, however their modern jazz interpretation of the Monroe / Baker mountain melody misses the ancient feel of the original by a wide mark. I would much prefer hearing this combo interpret a Charlie Parker or Miles Davis tune. Mixing this type of jazz approach with a modal bluegrass melody is like pouring chicken gravy on chocolate ice cream. I love them both but not when they're mixed together.
Ach Du Lieber! that is some awesome stuff ... those guys must sleep with their axes ... how can someone be that good a picker ? makes me sick ... gonna cut all my strings now, good day ! PEACE !

Wow, IntuneDan is kind of an inflexible tight ass, wouldn't you say? Good music and good musicianship has no boundaries buddy.

jeffpicks: big black DeSoto pulled up alongside, the driver asked "How can I get to Carnegie Hall?"
The classic answer still works:
"Practice, man, practice!"
