tourq has alot to do with it. look at diesel rigs, they have like 1500 lbs of tourque, thats why they can move a 50,000 lbs trailer!

5.9s a 360 and 5.2s a 318 its just how much power u want and which engine u can put the money into

@440sac guy i got my shell off of, told me this., said hes making a r/t clone from his base model dakota. I was like whatever dude.the 318 is a good motor but it doesn't have any torque. he said whatever im only 15hp from your 360. we lined up one day off a deserted road and he lost by at least 6 car lengths. tourque gets you moving in his case he didnt have enough to get his truck moving off the line.

@440sac Yeah people tend to not understand what torque is or does and just go by horse power, not knowing that torque is whats getting you off the line.

@911SHIZBO yeah people just throw pickups on dyno's and expect them to get a massive hp rating. Torque is just one of the factors of horsepower, and is a variable factor.

in all technicalities excuse my horrible spelling. none of these engines are worth a damn. 5.2's suck 5.9's are over rated 4.7's overheat. The only way to make a dak go fast is to hemi swap or somethin swap trust me youll dump 10k plus makin a dakota a 10 second truck not worth it

I have a 2000 R/T and to solve the traction issue just lower it, i did 2 in the front and 3 in the back and its alot better

its a procharger, much like a turbo only it runs of the belt and it can be intercooled as well so it allows for lower intake temps meaning denser air charge, more air + more fuel = more power
